Chapter 1410
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Stella nudged Keegan with her elbow. He got her message and said, âTrevor, letâs have a meal together after this.â
Trevor put down the flower and stood back up. Then, he said, âItâs fine. I have a meeting with someone later. By the end of this month, weâll host a banquet to celebrate Stellaâs return to our family and reveal her identity to the public.
Take good care of her. If anything happens to her, you wonât be invited.â
Keegan was taken aback and did not say anything in response.
Trevor frowned. âWhatâs wrong? Do you have a problem taking care of her? If so, Iâll-â
âI donât!â Keegan recollected himself and immediately interrupted him. âIâll do everything in my power to take care of her.â
A faint smile appeared on Trevorâs face. Then, he walked up to Keegan and said in a low voice, âThereâs still something between us that isnât settled yet.â
Keegan kept quiet.
Stella hurriedly asked right after Trevor left, âWhat did my brother say to you just now?â
Keegan thought about what he had done, cleared his throat, and said, âItâs nothing. He was just reminding me to keep my word.â
Then, he asked Stella, âWhat were you guys talking about over there?â
âI told him that if they donât let me be with you, Iâll die right in front of them,â Stella said.
Keegan was speechless.
âLetâs go.â
Stella immediately went after Keegan after not getting any reaction from him. âWhat? Are you not going to say anything about it? Arenât you moved?â
Keegan scoffed. âI know where I stand.â
He could clearly remember what Stella said when he told her he would live and die with her.
Stella said, âYou have to protect me no matter what happens, even if it means dying.â
Keegan knew she would never make any sacrifices for him, so he never expected her to use her life to blackmail Trevor for his sake.
He had stopped having such fantasies many years ago.
Vermontâs assistant was passing by the office of Green Hill Media after hanging out with his friends. He went inside, intending to print the documents he would need the next day to avoid coming in early in the morning.
However, he found out that the light in the CEOâs office was still on when he went to get his things. He peeked through the blinds and found out that his boss had not gone home yet.
The assistant looked at the time and saw it was already ten oâclock. Vermont was someone who never worked late and would usually leave the office by seven. He could not figure out why Vermont would still be there.
He thought for a moment and decided to knock on the door. Vermont said in a flat tone, âCome in.â
The assistant pushed the door open and asked, âMr. Snyder, why are you still here?â
âIâll leave in a bit. You go home first,â Vermont pursed his lips and spoke.
His phone rang as he spoke.
The assistant glanced from afar and saw the callerâs name- Baby.
That was his first time seeing such a name on his bossâ phone. Vermont would always save his exesâ
names by their real names. The assistant wondered who that could be.
Vermont looked at the ringing phone and hesitated to answer it. At last, he looked at his assistant and said, âHere, pick it up for me.â
The assistant was taken aback.
