Chapter 17
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
âDivorce? What happened?â
Marshall was a little curious.
When Keegan got married, Marshall was having medical treatment. So, he did not come back to attend his wedding. He spent most of his time overseas for the past years. He did not meet Keeganâs wife, not even once. But, he heard Vermont and other people mentioned her. They said she was goodâlooking and wellâbehaved but dull.
At that time, those immoral people even made a bet in the group that Keegan and his wife would divorce in less than three months. Months and months passed by. They had already been married for more than three years in the blink of an eye.
Marshall thought their relationship was stable. He did not expect to hear that they wanted to get a divorce when he had just got back. And, from the way Vermont said it, he noticed that the one who wanted a divorce was Keeganâs wife. So, he got even more curious.
When Vermont brought that up, he did not feel the pain from his wound anymore. He excitedly said, âIâll tell you what happened. Two days ago, Keegan and I ran into his wife. He thought she was following him. But she didnât even bother him. She left after scolding Keegan. Yet, he insisted that they were just arguingâ¦
Keeganâs face darkened. âJust keep your mouth shut!â
Vermont tutted, âYou were dumped, and you still wanted me to shut up about it.â
The veins on Keeganâs forehead twitched.
Marshall patted Vermontâs leg. Vermont then stopped talking about it. He timely changed the subject.
Anyway, Keegan has stakes in Rotona Pinnacle Hospital. You can ask him to check the information of that lady.â
Keegan asked, âWhat lady?â
Vermont embellished the story of what happened in the hospital just now.
Keegan reacted just like how Vermont did. He was very surprised. But, he did not reject the request. He asked in detail, âWhat does she look like?â
Vermont made a joke, âFrom what he described, she seemed like an angel from heaven.â
Marshall laughed too. âSheâs quite angelic indeed. She was a little hasty. But, sheâs quite cute.â
Keegan pondered for a moment. He said, âAny other traits? Iâll make a call later and ask for you.
Marshall shook his head. âItâs all right. I think with her temper, sheâll be unhappy if she finds out that I investigate her. Iâll just go with the flow. If weâre meant to meet again, perhaps weâll meet again.â
Vermont raised his eyebrows and said, âYou just met her, and you already know about her temper?â
âItâs just what I felt. She dared to take my phone away when she suspected that I secretly took pictures of her. With this kind of personality, I think she hates to be investigated privately.â
Keegan agreed. âJust go with the flow, then. It could be counterproductive if you try too hard.â
Vermont clamored, âOne of you is getting a divorce from your wife, and the other is still single. Yet, both of you are discussing a womanâs mind. Donât you guys think itâs ridiculous? Iâm an experienced ladykiller. Why didnât you guys think of asking for my opinion?â
Keegan did not even bother to look at him this time.
Marshall glanced at him. He saw that he looked desperate to be asked. He hesitated for a moment before he honestly said, âIf you know whatâs going on in a womanâs mind, you wouldnât be dumped more than ten times, right? You wouldnât have so many failures.â
Vermont was speechless.
Meanwhile, Stella was panting as she ran back to the ward. The doctor was examining Rainee. She then breathed slowly as she stood at the side to stare unwaveringly at them. She was afraid that she would miss something.
While the doctor was examining Rainee, he asked the orderly, âAre you sure that the patientâs eyeballs moved just now?â
The orderly hurriedly nodded her head and said, âWhen the nurse came to do the dressing just now, I saw her eyeballs move. The nurse saw it too. You can ask her.â
The nurse said, âI think they moved. But it happened for a split second. I wasnât sure if I was mistaken.â
The doctor did not speak any further. He then continued his examination.
Stella was distraught. After the doctor finished checking, she immediately asked, âDoctor Steven, is my mother going to wake up soon?â
Doctor Steven shook his head, âItâs not certain. Her eyeballs only moved one time. It doesnât mean anything. We have to keep monitoring her. If she moves her eyeballs more often, or if we can clearly see that she moved her head, then those could be signs of her waking up.
