Chapter 170
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
âYou should grab the check quickly before I regret it,â Stella said.
Keegan stared at her for a moment and said, âAnswer me this one question, and the check is yours.â
Stella lifted her gaze. âWhat?â
âWhat did Albert discuss with you?â
Stellaâs movements froze, and she pursed her lips. âYour mother didnât receive the white truffles. You could have just refused to help me if you were busy.â He did not need to lie to her and say he had sent them.
Keegan was stunned, and his expression became ugly. âYou assumed I didnât send them on purpose?â
âWhether it was on purpose or you forgot, itâs best you donât promise someone things so easily,â Stella replied.
Keeganâs eyebrows were scrunched, and he wanted to say something before Aldor knocked on the door to enter.
âMr. Kane, Mrs. Kane, the paperwork has been processed.â Noticing that neither of them was answering, Aldor asked quietly, âAre you still going to discharge?â
Throughout the journey, both of them were silent. Aldor, on the other hand, was unaccustomed to this.
Recently, both of them had been bickering quite frequently. Having them be so quiet actually made it feel creepier. He secretly glanced at the rearview mirror.
Keegan had his brows furrowed. Who knows what he is thinking about. Stella turned her head to stare out the window. Her expression was cold.
âWhat happened to both of them this time?â Aldor thought.
âAldor.â Keegan suddenly opened his mouth. âThe white truffles I told you to send to my mother last time, have you sent them already?â
Stellaâs ears twitched when she heard it. Aldor nodded his head. âI have sent them.â
âMy mother has received them?â Keegan continued to ask.
âShe was not present then, and the housemaid at home received them.â
âDid you tell her that we sent them?â
âIâve explained to them clearly as per your orders.â
Keegan scrunched his eyebrows. âThen why did she not receive them?â he thought.
Keegan took his phone and called the telephone at Dahliaâs residence. Not long after, the call was connected. Keegan said, âItâs me.â
The housemaid immediately recognized Keeganâs voice. âMr. Kane, why did you call home? Madam and Ms. Kane arenât here at the moment.â
âI know. Iâm looking for you to ask about something.â
âYou may ask away.â
âI had Aldor send some white truffles over last time. He said that he passed them to you. Why did my mother say she didnât?â
The housemaidâs voice grew anxious, and she stuttered, âMaybe â maybe itâs because I forgot about it.â
âForgot about it?â Keeganâs deep voice bellowed, âThen you should find it right now. Iâm on my way to come over and retrieve it.â
âThe item was already stomped to pieces by Aurora. How could I possibly find it now?â the housemaid thought.
âMr. Kane, 1-1-I donât know where I put itâ¦â
âNever mind. We still have a moment before we arrive. You better search carefully. The house can only be so big. How could it be completely lost?â
The housemaid was on pins and needles. She did not dare say that it was tossed away by Aurora, so she could only lie, âI-I just remembered. I was cleaning the store room a few days ago, and the things were already molding, so I threw them away.â
âThrew it away?â Keeganâs voice turned chilly. âThose two boxes of white truffles cost up to ten thousand dollars. Did you actually throw them or steal them for yourself?â
Stealing was a severe accusation, so the housemaid panicked and desperately denied it. âI wasnât me.
I didnât steal anything! Mr. Kane, I have worked for the Kane family for nearly twenty years. You know my personality. How could I possibly steal something that belongs to the master myself?â
âWell, where is this thing?â
Stella then looked at Keegan.
