Chapter 1741
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Keegan felt a sting and retorted, âWhen did I assert dominance? Iâm just thinking it would damage my reputation if this got out!â
âOh, but itâs fine when you and Jaylene flaunt your relationship without caring about my reputation? If so, why should I care about yours?â Stella nonchalantly replied.
Keegan was displeased to hear that. âIâm not flaunting anything! I came here to express gratitude!â
âAnd Marshall came here to apologize. Is that not allowed?â Stella countered.
Keegan was no match for Stella, even before his memory loss. Hence, he directed his dissatisfaction toward Marshall, glaring at him.
Stella covered Marshallâs face with her hand to block Keeganâs line of sight.
With a stern look, she said, âWeâre the ones arguing. Why the hell are you glaring at Marshall?â
âYouâre still young, so itâs understandable if you lack selfrestraint. However, heâs much older and should know better, â said Keegan, furious at Stella for protecting Marshall.
Stellaâs eyes twitched. Keegan never knew how to express his jealousy in a healthy way. He would never tell her that he was jealous. Instead, heâd argue with her on moral grounds and put the blame on a third party.
If Keegan were to direct his grievances toward Stella, not only would she deny any wrongdoing but also retaliate and eventually disregard him entirely.
However, he could simply vent his frustration when it came to a third party. He seemed to enjoy a momentary release as he aimed his criticism at Marshall.
He labeled Marshall as being much older as a personal attack, especially since they were the same age.
Stella felt compassion for Keegan but did not back down.â Marshall is only a few months younger than you. If heâs considered old, what does that make you? A grandpa?â
Clearly provoked, Keegan pointed at her, only managing to say, âYouâre being unreasonable!â Keegan and Jayleneâs joint visit to the Saun residence left Stella angry, so she purposely addressed Marshall by name. Even though Marshall was aware of her intentional use of his name, he couldnât help but feel a certain emotion when he heard it.
He gently lowered Stellaâs hand and jokingly said, âMaybe Keegan thinks heâs still young without his memory, and compared to him, I might seem older. Letâs not argue with him.â
Frustrated by the insinuations, Keegan was about to retort when Jaylene appeared with a fruit platter, prompting him to begrudgingly resume his seat.
âStella, you came.â
Stella nodded in acknowledgment, not particularly fond of Jayleneâs host-like comments whenever she saw her.
Despite her dissatisfaction, she remained committed to avoiding needless conflicts.
However, Marshall said, âMs. Saun, why would you say that she came when sheâs returning to her own home? Is she an outsider to you?â
Jaylene was momentarily surprised and quickly expressed remorse. âIâm sorry. I didnât mean it like that.
Itâs just that Stella hasnât been living here recently, and I got used to saying that.â
Glancing at Stella, Jaylene continued, âStella, Iâm sorry. I didnât think youâd mind.
I truly didnât mean anything by it, and I wonât say it in the future.â
Marshall was asking for basic respect, but from Jayleneâs point of view, it looked like Stella was making a big deal out of nothing
