Chapter 1761
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Cordelia held Stella and comforted her for some time.
Stella âsobbedâ for a long time. She never mentioned Keegan, yet every sentence she spoke was about him.
For example, when Cordelia asked, âTell me. Did Keegan bring you here for the abortion?â
Stella would cry and say, âNo, he did it for my sake. After all, weâre no one to each other nowâ¦â
Also, when Cordelia said, âStella, you finally having a baby is such a big matter. Why didnât you tell me about it earlier?â
Stella would say, âI wanted to tell you about it when I visited you the other day, but I bumped right into Keegan and Jaylene when I arrivedâ¦â
She did not continue speaking after that, but anyone would think that those two either did or said something to upset her. So, Cordelia went after Keegan again.
Keegan became numb to it all. Then, he wondered to himself, âWhy did I manage to get such a cunning and violent woman pregnant?
âCould it be true that Iâm a masochist?â
At that moment, he felt like giving himself a toast for taking one for the men.
After Stella calmed down, Cordelia asked, âKeegan, tell me. What are your plans now?â
Keegan remained silent momentarily before saying, âGrandma, pick a date.
Iâll get ready for the proposal.â
Cordelia glanced at him.
Keegan understood the meaning of her gaze, acknowledging that he finally said something right.
âGrandma, I donât want to marry him.â
Stella said that out of the blue, leaving Vermont utterly speechless.
âWhat? Isnât the whole purpose of this to get Keegan to marry her? Why would she turn it down now that he complies?â Vermont thought to himself.
Keegan furrowed his brows and looked at Stella.
Cordelia shifted her gaze to Stella, too. She then held Stellaâs hand and patted it gently, saying, âStella, you can tell me whatâs on your mind. Why donât you want to marry him?â
Stella lowered her gaze, âGrandma, if he were still the old Keegan, Iâd say yes without hesitation. But the current him doesnât even remember me. Iâd rather not marry him if he only wants to be with me because of the child. Plus, it wonât be fair to the child either.â âSo, are you saying thatâ¦â
Stella lifted her head, saying, âI want him to marry me willingly.â
Keegan met her gaze and curled his fingers without saying anything.
Cordelia paused before she said, âBut the doctor said that his condition will take some time to improve.â
Stella looked at Keegan and said, âThen give US three months to live together. If he still feels nothing for me after spending the next three months together, it means that weâre not meant to be, and thereâs no need for this marriage. I donât want to trap myself in a loveless marriage because of a child. Itâs still early, and weâd still be able to get an abortion by then. After that, we can move on with our lives.â 1 Cordelia looked at Stellaâs expression and realized that she was not joking. Her heart dropped as she thought, âSheâs being serious!â
Then, she turned to Keegan and asked, âKeegan, what do you think?â
