Chapter 1766
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Of course, Keegan did not let go. Instead, he lifted her even higher. A smile flashed on his face as he asked in a low voice, âWhy are you so scared? Itâs not like Iâd actually drop you.â
Stella realized that he was just teasing her. She got angry and playfully pounded Keeganâs chest.
Felicity leaned out of the window upstairs and said, âDamn. Stellaâs really something. She actually managed to make Keegan carry her out.â
Vermont rested his chin on top of Felicityâs head and watched the scene below with her, âWhy do you think Keegan was so obsessed with her before? Your best friend is more than just something.â i âHey, your brother is a doctor here, right? Why donât you ask him to find out if the child in Stellaâs belly is a boy or a girl?â
Vermont said, âI donât think we should do that. Why do you want to know? If it turns out to be a boy, would you not want to be his godmother?â
Felicity pouted, âWell, I do prefer to have a goddaughter. But if itâs really a boy, Iâll still love him the same. Iâm just curious.â
âYou should be curious about something else, like how much money I have or how many properties and cars I own.â 1 Felicity was puzzled, âWhy should I be curious about those things? Theyâre not mine anyway.â
Vermont smirked and leaned into her ear, whispering, âThey may not be yours now. But if you marry me, everything I own will be yours.â
Felicity paused, turned around, and scrutinized him, âTell me how much you have then.â
âItâll take me a long time to tell you everything I own.â
Felicityâs eyelid twitched, âSame trick again, huh?â
She looked at Vermontâs expression that screamed, âkeep asking,â and said, âOh, letâs not bother then if thatâs the case.â
Then, she turned and walked away.
Vermont was stunned.
He hurriedly caught up with her and said, âHey, ask me again, and Iâll tell you.â
Felicity glanced at him, âNo way. You can keep it to yourself.â
Vermont chuckled as he hugged her shoulder and asked with a smile, âThereâs a new murder mystery game around this area. Do you want to play it together?â
Felicity brushed his hand off her shoulder, âNo, I need to work on my script.â
âI only want to take you there because Iâm trying to help you get inspiration for your script.â
Felicity looked at him, âItâs more like you just want to waste my time and make me miss the deadline.â
Vermont sighed, âWhy do you always think so poorly of me?â
Felicity then reminded him of what he did, âWhen I was about to finish my script last time, you told me thereâs a great Joplonese restaurant we should try. I told you we could go after I finish, but you said the promotion would be over by then, and I could work on the script in the restaurant. So, I went with you, and my laptop got stolen.â
Vermont kept quiet for a while and said, âBut we found it back later, didnât we?â
Felicity glowered at him, âThe thief had already sold my script on the black market and wiped all my data. Whatâs the point of getting an empty laptop back?â
Vermont said guiltily, âBut you came up with an even better script, right? Itâs just that no one has a good enough taste to buy it.â
Felicity gritted her teeth, âItâs all your fault!â
Vermont was speechless.
âThis time, nothing like that will happen again. The shop owner works in showbiz and hires professionals to design the plot. Itâs not something you can experience anywhere else. Once we play it, Iâll introduce you to their scriptwriter, and you can have a chat with him. He used to write suspenseful detective scripts and is pretty experienced with it.â
Felicity paused and said, âHow do you know thatâs the theme Iâve been working on?â
Vermont said, âDidnât you ask me to borrow some books from the library before? When they updated their system, I linked my phone number with your library card so I can see every book you borrowed.
âI noticed that youâve been reading a book called â Chronicles of Injustice,â and also books on anatomy and psychology. I figured youâre probably working on a script for this theme, so I wanted to help you find some inspiration.â i Felicity felt strange inside as she tilted her head to look at Vermont, âIf you want to help me, why donât you just buy the rights to my script and turn it into a film?â
