Chapter 182
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Keegan obviously did not want to let Cordelia know that he was attacked, mainly because he was afraid that she would be worried. âAre you eating well, dear?â the old lady furrowed her brows. âYouâve become skinnier since the last time I saw you. Has everything been alright these past two days?â
âYes, grandma. Iâm feeling much better now. Iâll be able to return to the company in a few days.â
âThereâs no rush. Your health is much more important.â Cordelia looked at the cup of coffee in Keeganâs hand and frowned. âWhy are you still drinking coffee with an upset tummy?â she asked.
Keegan immediately dumped the blame on Stella. âItâs hers,â he said.
âStella, you canât be drinking coffee either. Itâll affect your sleepâ Stella bit the bullet and said, âOkay, grandma. Iâll stop drinking coffeeâ The old lady was satisfied with her answer.
Seeing a pile of clothes on the couch, she asked, âAre you going out?â Stella did not know what to say.
If she said that she was going to a jewelry exhibition, knowing that Cordeltaâs precious grandson Keegan was âillâ, Cordelia would definitely be unhappy She was still trying to find an excuse when Keegan said, âSheâs too noisy. There happens to be a jewelry exhibition tonight, so I asked her to go because I wanted some peace and quietâ
âIs it the one trene is organizing?â Cordelia wondered Irene Moore, the organizer of the jewelry exhibition, was also Marshallâs aunt Keegan nodded. The old lady smiled and said, Good. Weâll go together.â
âYouâre going too?â Keegan asked as he was startled. âIrene told me that she had a fine piece of jade.
She even invited the Venerable Raphael Morghen from the Temple of Abawo to bless the stone. So, Iâm going to have a look.â
Cordelia was a very superstitious woman and liked jades a lot. She had a good relationship with the Venerable Raphael Morghen and even donated to renovate the temple. When Stella and Keegan got married, Cordelia went to the temple to look at their horoscopes; they were a match made in heaven.
Stella had always felt that the Venerable Raphael Morghen was a bit of a charlatan, but to each their own. âThereâs no need to make her unhappy,â she thought.
Keegan frowned and said, âMarshall didnât mention anything about a jade. He only mentioned something about a Luminous Pearl.â
âIâm not sure. Maybe one of Ireneâs friends brought it. Iâll just have to go and see.â
âIâll go too,â Keegan pursed his lips and said.
The old lady glanced at him and replied, âIf you think Stella is noisy, wouldnât it be noisier with so many people there?â
Keeganâs expression remained the same. âIâll get used to it,â he said. âI canât possibly just throw her out, can I?â
The corners of Stellaâs lips twitched when she heard that. âAsshole!â she thought.
Marshallâs grandfather had four children-the first three being sons, and the last, a daughter. He loved his youngest very much. Irene was an intelligent child; she graduated from a prestigious college and had a successful career. She was even born into a wealthy family. Every aspect of her life was perfect, except for her marriage.
Irene divorced her ex-husband only after a few years of marriage and had a daughter. Although she was still with her current partner, she never got remarried. Her current partner was more than ten years younger than her. They met two years ago. Many opposed their relationship, but they finally got their marriage certificate this year.
They had yet to hold a wedding, perhaps because they had not discussed it with the family.
