Chapter 1822
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
And that medicineâ¦â Keegan thought of the sound of wind chimes he heard every time he was in a daze.
Lowering his gaze, he absentmindedly tapped the tabletop with his fingers.
Aldor was very intrigued by Keeganâs insights, so he asked,â How do you know?â
âIâ¦â Keegan paused and said lightly, âAsked about it before.â
âAsked about it? Mr. Kane isnât mentally ill, so for whom did he consult?* Aldor thought to himself.
Keegan stood up, took the documents to the shredder, and tossed them in. The documents were instantly shredded into bits.
He threw those bits into the ashtray, took out a lighter, ignited the bits, and watched the flames flicker.
âDonât tell anyone about this matter,â he said flatly.
Aldor asked in a low voice, âIncluding Mrs. Kane?â
Keegan nodded.
Aldor was about to say âOkayâ but suddenly froze. He just called Stella Mrs.
Kane,â but Keegan said nothing!
Aldor cautiously asked, âMr. Kane, have you remembered everything?â
Keeganâs gaze remained lowered as he asked, âIs the revised proposal ready?â
Aldor was speechless. He then whispered to himself, âDidnât you say to check things first, and the proposal wasnât urgent? n Keegan looked up, âSorry?â
Aldor immediately held his tongue. âIâll work on it right away.â
As he was about to leave the office, Keeganâs phone rang. Aldor glanced at it and saw that the call was from Jaylene. He halted his steps and slowly tidied up things on the desk.
Keegan ignored him and answered the call anyway.
âKeegan, itâs me.â
Keegan responded flatly, âJaylene, is there something you need?â
He sounded very gentle. But to Aldor, he was simply indifferent.
âKeegan, I have a friend who is getting engaged and wants me to attend the engagement banquet. Can you go with me? IV Keegan chuckled, âItâs inappropriate for me to attend your friendâs engagement banquet.â
âWell, I didnât want to trouble you⦠But when you were hospitalized, this friend of mine helped us a lot.
Remember the medicine you were on? She brought it back from overseas. Besides attending her engagement banquet, Iâm also going there to get the medicine.â
She continued, âKeegan, if you donât want to go, just forget about it. Iâll bring the medicine back for you when I return.â
Keegan fell silent for a moment before saying, âSend me the address.â
Jaylene sounded delighted, âSure.â
After hanging up, Keegan looked up and frowned when he saw Aldor still in the office, âIs there anything else I can help you with?â
Aldor pursed his lips and decided to remind him, âMr. Kane, do you remember the year you attended a clientâs birthday banquet? You danced with the clientâs daughter.
âIt was around this season, so it was freezing cold. Mrs. Kane locked all the doors and windows when you went home and left you to freeze outside for the entire night. Do you remember?â
Keegan stared coldly at him, âWhat are you trying to say?â
Aldor spoke softly, âYour body isnât as resilient as it was back then. Donât be so defiant.â
