Chapter 244
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
When Aldor returned, Marshall entered the room with him.
Stella was shocked when she saw Marshall, âMr. Moore, what are you doing here?â
âIâve got an appointment with Keegan to discuss some work matters,â Marshall was as gentle as ever.
He continued, âYouâre⦠Waiting for Keegan to get off work?â
âWho wants to wait for him to get off work?â Stella pouted.
She did not want to discuss the bothersome matters between her and Keegan, so she changed. the topic.
âYou two still have work-related interactions?â
âSort of.â
Marshall did not go into detail since it was work-related.
Aldor looked at the text message on his phone. Then, he lifted his head and said, âMrs. Kane, please keep Mr. Moore company. I need to go to the conference room.â
Stella waved her hand, âGo ahead.â
As Aldor left, Stella handed Marshall a cup of tea, âHave some tea, Mr. Moore.â
Marshall thanked her but did not touch the âDo cup.
you not like tea? Shall I make you some coffee instead?â Stella asked.
âThereâs no need. Itâs not that I donât like tea; I often have it when Iâm stopping myself from smoking.
However, drinking too much of it leads to insomnia at night, so Iâm controlling my intake.â
âYouâre quitting smoking?â
Marshall nodded, âThe doctor told me to.â
Stella seemed to agree with his statement, âQuitting smoking is good for your body. I heard Kee- My husband say your illness improved after staying abroad for a few years. Since you already have a weak constitution, you should quit smoking.â
Marshall was astonished, âKeegan told you about me?â
Stella was worried that he felt uncomfortable. She quickly said, âHe just brought it up once. He didnât go into detail.â
Marshall chuckled.
âDonât worry; I donât mind. After all, it isnât a secret anyway.â
Stella initially wanted to change the topic. However, she could not stop her curiosity. She asked, âWhat illness is it?â
Marshall pointed at his head, âAn illness here.â
Stella was shocked.
âMental illness?â she asked.
Marshall was speechless.
He pursed his lips and said in a low voice, âJust some illness related to my head.â
Stella immediately felt awkward.
She laughed dryly, âYou shouldâve said it more clearlyâ¦â
Marshall could not help but chuckle, âAlright. I didnât make myself clear enough.â
Stella scratched her head in embarrassment and asked with concern, âThen, has the illness been fully cured?â
â
âAlmost. I occasionally get headaches, but it doesnât affect my daily life.â
âItâs such a shame. Heâs still so young, yet he spent so many years bedridden,â Stella thought.
âTake it slow, youâll definitely recover. Youâre so young and awesome. The best is yet to come.
Marshall was a little amused. It was his first time having someone console him this way.
âHow do I put this? Itâs like sheâs an elderly person consoling a younger person when sheâs a few years younger than me,â he thought.
âHow am I awesome?â
âYou got so many certificates even when you were sick; isnât that awesome?â
Marshall was surprised. He asked warmly, âDid Keegan also tell you that?â
âHe wouldnât tell me such things. I saw it on the website myself.â
âMarshallâs currently working at his friendâs company, so I had looked up his information on that firmâs website before. Even after combining some of the lawyersâ resumes from that firm, their experience is still not as impressive as his. Marshall got a full scholarship for a Masterâs in law at a foreign university.
He was a resident author of a top law journal company locally and abroad, has a lot of experience in legal aid, and was a legal counsel for some well-known cases. He was also one of the top ten most favorable bar exam lecturers, taught college students, and has an airplane, diving, and skydiving license⦠His experience from the past 30 years is way more exciting than what an ordinary person experiences in their lifetime. In hindsight, I may have hired a big shot in the legal profession,â she thought.
