Chapter 332
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
âHeâs already so old. His life could be in danger by falling like this.â
âOur grandfather fell in the Kane residence, yet nobody from the Kane family is here. Arenât they going to take responsibility for what happened?â
The Jewells spoke and tried to put the blame on Stella.
Stella gazed downward without saying anything.
âStop talking! Itâs so noisy!â
Arthur furrowed his brows. He was not having any of their âconcernsâ. âGet out now, all of you!â he yelled with a frown.
Everyone turned quiet.
Then, they reluctantly left the room, one after another.
Stella was about to leave too, but Arthur stopped her. âStella, pour me a glass of water.â
Stella stopped and turned around.
Her uncles and aunts looked at each other after hearing what Arthur said. Then, they pursed their lips and closed the door.
Stella brought a glass of water and placed the straw near Arthurâs mouth. He lifted his head and took two sips before lying back down.
Then, he patted his blanket and said softly, âSit closer to me.â
Stella put the cup down and did as he said.
âWhereâs Keegan?â Arthur asked softly.
Stella looked down and said in a low voice, âHe was here just now, but he left because he has something to do.â
Arthur pursed his lips without saying anything.
Stella clenched her fist and said softly, âIâm sorry.â
Arthur smiled. âWhat for? You didnât do anything wrong.â
Stella then continued under her breath, âI wouldnât have let her touch you if I was at home.â
âWhat? I was just too angry, and I couldnât think straight. I shouldnât have grabbed her wrist.â
Arthur sighed and continued, âIâve always wanted to meet your husbandâs family, and see what theyâre like. I just didnât expect things to end up this way.â He patted the back of Stellaâs hand after saying that.
âI shouldâve known better.â
Stella was confused. Then, she saw Arthur taking a bankbook out from his underclothes before handing it to her. âThe compensation I received from our old house relocation a few years ago is in here. The pin code is six ones. Take this with you and your mother-in-law wonât look down on you anymore. Use the money and buy yourself a house if you really donât like living there. Itâs enough to cover all of your expenses. Remember, marriage is nothing compared to your own happiness.â
Stellaâs heart clenched as she pushed the bankbook back with her red eyes. âIâm not taking it.â
âSilly girl!â Arthur lightly smacked her head with the bankbook. âAll of the people outside are longing for this, yet you just rejected it. No wonder that brat treats you so badly!â
