Chapter 37
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Stella has big, almondâshaped eyes with long outer corners. When she was sober, her clear eyes brightened up whenever she smiled. However, when she was drunk, her eyes were clouded with intoxication, and she looked exceptionally alluring.
Inadvertently, carelessly alluring.
Keegan gulped as he lowered his gaze to look at her. âThat depends on where you want to sleep tonight.â His voice was deep and intimidating.
Stella tilted her head and thought for a while. She then smiled and said, âLetâs go to your place.â
Keegan raised his eyebrow. âAre you sure?â
Stella felt too dizzy to focus on Keeganâs blurry figure. She frowned, shook her head, and held his face with her hands. âI gave you three thousand and five hundred dollars. If we went to a hotel room, that would cost me too much. Letâs go to your house to save up some money. I might have to go through divorce proceedings.â
Keegan could feel the veins popping out of his head.
âAm I supposed to compliment her on her thriftiness?â
Keegan looked stern. âMy place? Arenât you worried about your husband finding out about this?â His voice was somber.
Stella shook her head. âI donât have a husband. Iâm a widow.â
Keegan gritted his teeth. âWould a widow need to file a divorce?â
Stella frowned. Apparently, she was puzzled by her own unsound statements. Keeganâs interrogation just made her more confused.
âYouâre so annoying! You ask way too many questions! I donât want you to be my boyfriend anymore.
Give me back my money!â
As she said that, her hands fumbled across Keeganâs body.
Keegan restrained both of her hands and buckled her seatbelt. âToo late,â he replied blankly.
He started the car and drove away.
âLet me out of the car!â Stella protested quietly.
Although she was drunk, she did not risk doing anything dangerous such as reaching to grab the steering wheel. She just stared on like an abandoned stray cat.
She might hiss, but she was too afraid to claw.
Keegan ignored her.
âAre you trying to kidnap me?â
The woman beside him was starting to imagine things. âIâm really broke. Please let me goâ¦â
Keegan gave the drunk girl a sideâeye. âYou donât look broke when you generously offered me three thousand and five hundred dollars to be your boyfriend,â he stated flatly.
âI was faking it,â Stella pleaded pitifully. âIâm really broke.â
âOh.â Keegan went quiet for a while. Just as Stella thought she had successfully persuaded him, Keegan spoke again. âI donât believe you.â
Stellaâs expression fell. âHow much ransom do you want, then?â
âHow much do you think youâre worth?â Keegan looked straight ahead.
Stella furrowed her eyebrows in distress. After a while, she replied, âJudging by my looks, I would say at least a hundred million dollars.
Keegan held back his smile.
âHow did I not know that she was this shameless?â
âI donât have a hundred million dollars, though. Why donât you ask my husband for it?â
Keegan snorted. âSo, you think of me now?â
His newly regained sense of presence as a husband did not last long, as his wife continued to conspire against him. âYou should call him and ask for two hundred million dollars as ransom. Then, you can threaten to kill me if you donât get the money. Once you get it, we can split the money in half.â
Keegan immediately got mad.
âWhat makes you so confident that he would pay the ransom?â he mocked.
