Chapter 39
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Stella froze as if her body was stuck. Then, she slowly turned her head around.
Keegan was lying on his side next to her, and his eyes were halfâclosed. One side of his face was buried in his pillow, while the other visible side showed a frown. He was displeased to be woken up out of the blue.
Looking down, Stellaâs hand was still stately resting on Keeganâs chest.
She abruptly took back her hand. Her whole body went numb, her brain felt rusty, and she was not able to get her thoughts straight. Stella then asked an obvious question.
âWhy are you here?â
Keegan did not even bother to open his eyes. âI thought you rented me for the night?â he replied lazily.
The memories of her being drunk were suddenly coming back to Stella.
âHow much for a night?
âYour good looks deserve a higher price.
âI want to sleep with you,â she recalled what she had said.
Stella was so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole in the ground and hide.
Thereâs no way I said that!â She thought.
She pretended not to hear what Keegan said. She grabbed her clothes and attempted to get up.
But, suddenly, Keeganâs arm swooped in and pulled her back into bed. âDonât run. You havenât paid me.â
âWho, whoâs running?â Stella was flustered. She covered herself with the blanket as she blushed. âAnd, pay you for what?â
Keegan propped up his head on his left hand and held onto the blanket with his right. He pulled her closer and said, âPay me for sleeping with you. Three thousand and five hundred dollars.â
âI was drunk when I said that! Does he really think heâs a prostitute?â
Stella blushed a deep red. âWe just âsleptâ together on the same bed! Why should I pay you three thousand and five hundred dollars?â Stella said through gritted teeth.
âDoes he think Iâm dumb? Nothing even happened between us!â
âIf we werenât just sleepingâ together, did you think it would be this low priced?â Keegan asked.
âI was drunk last night. My words donât count!â Stella replied.
Keegan narrowed his eyes dauntingly. âYou were drunk, and thatâs why you asked a random guy to sleep with you? Is that what a wife should do?â
Stella was annoyed by his words, and she shot back with her reply. âWhat a wife should do? I was drunk. Is it my fault if I mistake people for others or if I talk nonsense? What about you, then? Youâre sober, yet you mess around with other women! Is this what a husband should do? If you canât do it, donât ask me to do the same for you!â
Keegan was infuriated by Stellaâs speech. âIâm talking about you,â he said angrily. âDonât force your twisted analogy onto me.â
âWhat twisted analogy? Youâre the one who has double standards! Besides, I didnât sleep with anyone else, and even if I did, we are getting a divorce soon anyways. Why does it matter?â
âAmazing! This bastard cheated on me so many times, yet he has the nerve to criticize me?â
Stella broke free from Keeganâs arm and tried to leave the bed. He abruptly grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back, turning over to pin her under him. He grasped her by her chin and challenged her, âI dare you to say that again.â His expression was dark.
âThis bastard is so strong. Even my bones hurt from his grip.â Stella was furious, and she glared at him with her almondâshaped eyes. âWas there anything wrong with what I said? Oh, Mr. Kane, we are getting divorced soon. You have no right to control who I want to sleep with! Not letting me sleep with others when youâre impotentâmm-â
All of a sudden, Keegan gruffly bit Stellaâs lips before she could finish her sentence.
