Chapter 459
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
The look on Cordeliaâs face improved. She then shot Dahlia a cold look before Cyrene walked her inside.
Even Aurora was not happy with Dahlia.
She specially told Dahlia not to interfere, but she did not listen. Even though terminating Stellaâs card would not kill Rainee, doing so at such a crucial time indirectly drove Rainee to her death.
Obviously, Aurora was not upset that Rainee died, but she worried that Keegan would also put the blame on her when he got back.
âAurora, walk your mom inside,â Chandler said flatly, standing at the side.
âOkay,â Aurora responded. Even though she did not feel like doing so, she walked toward Dahlia and held her arm anyway. âMom, letâs go in.â
Everybody else at the funeral gave way to the Kanes after they arrived.
Pursing her lips, Cordelia walked inside with a solemn look on her face.
She was walking a lot slower than she would usually. Marshall gave Cyrene a single white rose, and she handed it to Cordelia.
Then, they paid their last respects to Rainee, and Cordelia went to Stella.
It had only been a few days, but Stella looked much skinnier. Cordeliaâs heart broke when she saw Stella.
She grabbed Stellaâs hand and sighed before saying softly, âIâm so sorry for your loss, child. I shouldâve been here earlier.â
Stella felt a lump in her throat, and she almost cried.
She bit her lip and said hoarsely, âItâs fine, Grandma.â
âYouâre not.â Cordelia touched her face graciously and said in a low voice,â Donât worry. Youâre a part of the Kane family. Iâll always have your back. No one will be able to mistreat you on my watch.â 1 Stella gazed downward and said, âThank you, Grandma.â
Cordelia did not speak very loudly. However, the mourning hall was huge, and nobody was really speaking at that time, so everyone there could hear every word she said to Stella.
Albert regretted what he did so much. âI shouldâve never listened to Hylda and turned things ugly between Stella and I,â Albert thought.
âWhat Cordelia just said to Stella was no different from telling everyone that the Kane family would support her no matter what.
âMy family will have nothing to worry about if we maintain a good relationship with Stella now that she has the Kane familyâs support.
âI knew women could never be trusted! Why did I even listen to what they said?!â
The look on Dahliaâs face turned even uglier. The fact that Cordelia backed Stella up publicly so many times was an insult to her as the eldest daughter -in-law of the Kane family. She regretted that she did not make a move against Stella sooner!
Dahlia paid her last respects to Rainee and stood at the side with a nonchalant face.
Cordelia was very unhappy about what Dahlia was doing, but Cordelia did not criticize her for it because there were other people around them.
The memorial service started at ten oâclock.
It ended forty minutes later, and the morticians started preparing for the cremation.
Vermont kept calling Keeganâs number while standing at the side.
âDidnât he say that heâd get here by ten thirty? Whatâs he doing?!â
Then, when the morticians were about to nail the coffin shut, he finally saw Keegan walking inside wearily
