Chapter 47
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Albert spoke sanctimoniously.
âOthers have lovers because they seek the thrill, but heâs doing it because of his comatose wife. He has no choice but to look for other women since he canât satisfy himself. Itâs as if his actions can be justified after he changes the reason. Humans are not animals. What does he mean by biological needs? Or, are men this shameless in the face of infidelity and shirk the blame to women?â wondered Stella.
âIf your mother was alive and well, I wouldâve never gone to find other women. She and I went through thick and thin together to establish the company. Our relationship canât possibly be replaced by others.â
âIf he hadnât hastily wanted to divorce my mother soon after her accident, I would have believed his nonsense! Besides, would he care if my motherâs dead or alive if I werenât married to Keegan and still useful to the Jewell family? He hasnât divorced my mother only because heâs pinning me down in the name of taking care of her,â Stella thought.
Stella had little emotions on her face.
She merely asked, âWhatâs that womanâs name?â
Albert froze momentarily. âWhat her name is doesnât matter. I wonât see her if you donât like her.â
He obviously did not want to continue the topic because he quickly changed it and asked, âDid you send the things I told you to previously?â
Stella pursed her lips and answered.
âMhm.â
âYou came out with Keegan?â
âNope. With a friend.â
Albert frowned, âYouâre a married person; donât just fool around all day long. You should use the time to think of a way to impress Keegan instead. Youâve been married for years now, yet you donât even have a child. How will you make the Kane family like you?â
Hearing Albertâs words, Stella felt physiologically sick. Every single one of his words reminded her of her marriageâs nature.
Keegan and I have never been on the same footing. I need to please my husband so that he will protect the Jewell family. How could Keegan think highly of me when there are ulterior motives behind our marriage? she thought.
Suddenly, Albertâs phone rang just as he was about to continue lecturing Stella. After he answered his phone, he turned to her and said, âI got something going on at the company, so Iâll be leaving first. You should go home soon if you donât have anything to do. Keeganâs been working all day. You should, at the very least, make him a hot meal.â
Felicity, who was hiding in the shadows, ran out after Albert left.
âYour dad really is something. He doesnât care about his daughter but treats his sonâinâlaw like heâs his biological son⦠No, he treats him like heâs his biological grandfather! Keegan likes women, but if he liked men, your father mightâve gone for him himself!â she huffed.
Stella was already used to Albertâs behavior. She then turned to Felicity. âIs the dashcam on?â
âItâs on. Why?â
Stella got in the car and exported the video from the dashcam.
The angle of the video was not good. It only momentarily captured Albert and the womanâs faces. Stella took a screenshot of the image and stared at it.
Felicity did not know what Stella was thinking.
âIs there a problem?â she asked.
Stella was silent for a moment. Then, she said in a low voice, âThat woman who was with Albert just now; I keep having the feeling that Iâve seen her somewhere before.â
âEspecially when I asked Albert that womanâs name. He was being all secretive when he answered. It made me even more certain that I wasnât mistaken,â she thought, âWhere have you seen her before?â
Stella shook her head. âI donât remember.â
