Chapter 52
Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted
Mrs. Chapman said modestly, âAll three of us won. I was just in luck.â
âThree won, so who lost?â asked Keegan.
Everyone fell silent and unanimously turned to look at Stella, who had tears in her eyes.
Stella was quiet.
âHow much did you lose?â he asked.
Stella bit her lip and said in a low voice, â460 thousand dollarsâ¦â
Keegan lifted his head. âDid you play with your eyes close?â
Stella glared at him through her tears.
âItâs not his money that I lost. Who gave him the right to ridicule me?!â she thought.
Mrs. White said, âSheâs young. She still lacks experience.â
Keegan glanced at Stella and said indifferently, âIt doesnât have much to do with experience. She hardly wins in any table games.â
His words implied that Stella was purely stupid.
Stella was speechless.
That bastard, Keegan, is always up to no good! Heâs always finding ways to humiliate me whenever thereâs a chance!â she thought.
Keegan grabbed the teapot and filled up the cups. Then, he said coolly, âItâs a rare occasion for us to have guests over. I ordered some dishes from The Deli. The food will be delivered later. Since itâs still early, would you ladies like to play a few more rounds?â
Mrs. Chapman was a little hesitant.
After all, she had already pocketed 300 thousand dollars, so she would profit if she left now.
Meanwhile, Mrs. White immediately agreed, âAlright. Iâm feeling lucky today, so I really donât feel like ending the game this early.â
After hearing Mrs. Whiteâs words, Mrs. Chapman did not know how to reject Keegan.
However, Dahlia glanced at Keegan. âI thought you didnât like this game?â
Keegan looked up. âI wonât be playing. You four can continue while I watch.â
Stella was speechless again.
âIs he going to watch me lose? I knew he had bad intentions!â she thought.
Keegan pulled a chair and sat down beside her. Then, he gracefully crossed his legs and said coolly, âPlay to your heartâs content. If you win, the moneyâs yours; if you lose, Iâll pay.â
Stella glanced at him dubiously.
âIs this man that kind?â she wondered.
Before Stella could give it more thought, the chips were redistributed, and a new game started.
However, Stella was still not in luck. None of the tiles she got were repeating, but she got one of each of the four Winds: East, South, West, and North.
She drew an East tile. Just as she was about to lay down the tile, Keegan said into her ear in a low voice,â
2 of Bamboo.â
âI have 1 of Bamboo and 2 of Bamboo. If I draw another 3 of Bamboo, Iâll have a threeâinâaârow. Itâs not wise to discard 2 of Bamboo, right?â she thought.
Stella was indecisive.
Mrs. Chapman felt a little impatient as she waited. âHurry up, Stella. Discard a tile.â
Stella bit the bullet and discarded a 2 of Bamboo tile.
âAfter all, he said heâll pay if I lose. Whatever!â she thought.
âThreeâofâaâkindâ
Mrs. White picked up the tile and smiled, âI dealt a good hand on the first turn. It looks like Iâve got pretty good luck this round.
Then, she discarded a North tile.
Stella lowered her head and glanced at her tiles.
âI have three North tiles. Should I go for fourâofâa-kind?â she wondered.
She turned to look at Keegan. However, he took a sip of his tea and coolly said, âWhy are you looking at me? Draw a tile.â
