Jordyn had actually been running toward Celeste at first, but when she saw Betty bending down for a hug, she turned and hugged her great–grandmother first.

Betty asked, “Have you eaten? Are you hungry?”

“I just had dinner with Dad outside, so I’m not hungry.” After answering, Jordyn pulled away from Betty and tiptoed toward Celeste. “Mom, hug me!”

Celeste bent down to pick her up. Even though she caught a faint whiff of perfume on her daughter’s clothes, her expression remained unchanged.

This time, Trevor didn’t personally drop Jordyn off.

She had left the car door open after getting out, so the driver stepped out to close the door before nodding to -Celeste and Betty in greeting. Then, he left.
