Chapter 119
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 119:
It was Monday, Hadleyâs typical day off.
She had planned to spend the night with Nyla.
Nyla was happy to have her company and saw no reason to refuse. Arriving early in the morning, Hadley came with her bag and everything she needed for the day.
Nyla woke up early, surprised to find Hadley already there. âHadley, youâre here so early? Donât you young people usually sleep in when you donât have work to do?â
âI can catch up on sleep any time. Missing one day wonât hurt.â
Sitting beside Nyla, Hadley noticed how well she looked. She had been contemplating this conversation for days and had finally decided to voice her thoughts.
âNyla.â Hadley gently took her hand. âI need to tell you something. Please promise you wonât get upset or agitated. Iâm just sharing my feelings.â
Seeing Hadleyâs earnest expression, Nyla responded with a reassuring smile. âAlright, Iâm all ears.â
âOkay, Iâll say it then.â
âGo ahead.â
âNyla,â Hadley began, her voice trembling slightly. âIâm so thankful you took me in all those years ago. If it hadnât been for you, I likely would have had to stop dancing and look for a different job much earlierââ
Her voice faltered, but she pressed on.
âYour grandmother was my best friend, and to me, you are like my own granddaughter. Iâve always seen you that way,â Nyla admitted, her voice thick with emotion.
âYouâve always looked out for me and cared for meââ Hadley, fighting back emotions, made her request. âSo, Iâm asking you, please look after me one more time.â
âWhat?â Nyla was taken aback momentarily, interpreting Hadleyâs solemn demeanor as an indication of a serious request.
Quickly nodding, she urged, âAlright, tell me what it is. Whatever it is, I will agree.â
âI appreciate that, thank you,â Hadley began, gathering her resolve.

âPlease agree to let Eric and I divorce.â
âWhat?â Nylaâs face was a mask of shock. She couldnât grasp what she was hearing.
âDo you understand what you are asking?â Nyla pressed.
âI do, yes,â Hadley confirmed, her voice thick with emotion. âI once deeply loved Eric. That truth was undeniable.â
âBut now, my feelings have changed.â
Behind her, the bathroom door was slightly ajar.
A tall figure paused in the doorway, rooted to the spot upon catching the tail end of the conversation.
âHadleyâ¦â Nylaâs voice was slightly trembling as she held Hadleyâs gaze.
Hadley tightened her hand.
Continuing with a shaky voice, she revealed, âHe never truly cared for me. His heart always belonged to Linda.â
Nyla was speechless, unable to counter the truth. âSo you knew,â Nyla murmured under her breath.
