Chapter 13
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 13:
It was this grave health concern that necessitated Hadleyâs return after three years. The surgery carried significant risks, and Nyla was bracing for all possibilitiesâ¦
Her wish, before undergoing surgery, was to reunite with Hadley.
Upon reaching Nylaâs room, Nylaâs anxious voice could be heard questioning,
âIs she here yet? Whatâs taking them so long?â
Knock, knock.
Advancing towards the door, Sebastian knocked lightly.
âCome in!â
He then moved aside, making way for Hadley.
âPlease, Mrs. Flynn, go ahead.â
âThank you.â
Hadley gave a nod and gently pushed the door open.
âHadley?â
Peering from her bed, Nyla tried to make out the figure at the doorway.
The resemblance was there, but uncertainty lingered.
âNyla.â
With swift steps, Hadley approached.
âIs it truly you, Hadley?â Nyla extended her hand with a burst of joy.
âCome closer, my dear. Letâs have a proper look at you.â
Submissively, Hadley grasped Nylaâs hand, permitting a close inspection.
âExcellent, just excellent.â
Emotion surged within Nyla; her eyes began to tear up, and her voice wavered.
âYouâve grown up into such a stunning young woman.â

Three years ago, Hadley had departed with a youthful, rounded face. But now, her appearance had changed dramatically.
âEric insisted on your independence, forbidding me from reaching out. It appears independence truly molds a person, doesnât it?â
At these words, Hadley halted, her smile broadening as she agreed.
âIndeed, youâre absolutely correct.â
Nylaâs pride grew as she observed Hadleyâs composure, softly patting her hand while exhaling a tender sigh.
âThe years have truly transformed you, havenât they?â
Hadley hesitated, then said in a hushed tone,
âI was reckless back then. Iâm sorry for the worries I caused you.â
With a deep sigh, Nyla responded,
âYou were indeed a bit spoiled, and thatâs on me. My overindulgence might have led to those errors.â
Hadley chose to remain silent, simply pressing her lips tightly together.
Running her fingers through Hadleyâs hair, Nyla sighed again.
âLook at you now, so different. Please understand why I was so stern; it was all out of love. Going forward, be a good girl. You will always be my dearest granddaughter-in-law, understand?â
