Chapter 131
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 131:
âAbsurd!â Eric retorted instantly. âDidnât I provide a house? Didnât I offer alimony? And now youâre telling me this is all you can afford?â
âThatâs your money, your property,â Hadley responded crisply. âI have no part in it.â
Eric, taken aback, asked, âWhat was that?â
Hadley offered a slight smile. âI made it clear when I signed the divorce papers. I wouldnât accept anything from the Flynn family. And I meant every word.â
During her toughest times, she had abandoned her dignity and begged for his help, but it never came her way. Now that she was doing well, she certainly wouldnât take anything from him ever again.
Eric recalled a conversation with Cristian, who mentioned that she hadnât yet visited the law firm to complete the property transfer.
âIs this really your plan?â Confusion marred Ericâs face, suspecting a new scheme of hers.
âItâs quite straightforward.â Looking up to meet his gaze due to their height difference, she smiled subtly. âNow that weâre divorced, Eric, I will manage my life independently.â
âManage alone?â Eric scoffed dismissively. âLike this? In this slum?â
âSlum?â With a muted smirk, Hadley replied, âPerhaps to you, itâs aâ¦â
âSlum.â
For her, this was already a nice apartment. She had endured far worse conditions in Blathe, even sleeping on the streets for a while.
âWhatever.â Eric, losing patience with the conversation, commanded, âPack your things. Youâre leaving with me now.â
âWhat?â Startled by his irrational demand, Hadley protested, âLeave? This is my home. Iâm staying.â
âHadley!â
Ericâs look was intense and full of exasperation, frustrated by her continual rejections.
âDo you think Iâm here to coddle you? Iâm doing this for Grandma.â

At that moment, Hadley recalled something important. Nyla had instructed Eric to support her as he would his own sister, tied to the condition of agreeing to their divorce.
Realizing she understood, Eric urged, âLetâs go, pack up now!â
âNo.â Hadley remained firm in her refusal.
âHadley?â His patience thinning, Eric pressed, âWhat do you really want?â
Exhaling deeply, Hadley replied calmly, âEric, didnât Nyla ask you to ensure I was alright? Just observe how well I manage on my own. Will you let me handle my affairs?â
âLet you handle your affairs?â Eric looked at her skeptically. âBe realistic, Hadley. Youâve been under our care since you were fifteenââ
âThatâs long past.â Interrupting him sharply, Hadley stated, âI appreciate everything the Flynn family has done for me, Eric, but trust me. I am capable of taking care of myself now. Iâm no longer the parasite you labelled me.â
âA parasite?â Ericâs brow creased with irritation. âWhen did I ever call you that, Hadley?â Yet, wasnât it the truth?
For someone of his stature, dismissing others was effortless.
Hadley felt a chill, but she dismissed it, affirming, âIâm settled here, Eric. Iâm not going anywhere.â
