Chapter 160
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 160:
She barely had time to register what was happening before she was met with Ericâs furious face.
The intensity in his eyes sent a jolt through her.
For a split second, she swore he looked like a man who had just caught his wife in bed with another man.
âJust 100k at the mess youâve made!â
His voice was thick with anger, and before she could respond, he lifted his hand in a sharp motion. The officers behind him rushed into the room.
They searched every inch of the space. Nothing.
âNo oneâs here?â
âJust her?â
âThat doesnât make sense.â
Ericâs expression darkened, his entire body tense with disbelief. He didnât trust a single word of it. Jaw clenched, he stormed in andâchecked for himself.
âWhere did he go?â Eric spun around to face Hadley. âThe man you were here withâwhere is he?â
Hadley arched a brow, her tone laced with amusement. âWhat man? Mr. Flynn, you really shouldnât be throwing out reckless accusations like that!â
âHadley!â
Eric grabbed her waist without warning.
Hadley gasped as she struggled, losing her balance and stumbling backward onto the sofa. Eric didnât release her. His grip was firm, and his towering figure loomed over her, casting a heavy shadow.
âEnough games. Who were you here with? Where is he?â
Hadleyâs breath hitched. Her face lost color, and her lashes quivered slightly. âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â
Ericâs patience snapped. His eyes burned with an intensity that sent a chill down her spine.

âFine. Then answer thisâhave you been with another man?â
Hadley froze.
For a second, she thought she had misheard him.
Then anger flared inside her, sharp and uncontainable. Without hesitation, she shot back, âAnd what if I have? What does that have to do with you?â
Ericâs jaw tightened. âIâm the one asking the damn question! Yes or no?â His voice thundered through the room, his fury barely restrained. The way he looked at her, as if daring her to admit it, was suffocating.
Hadley refused to be intimidated. She met his glare head-on, her voice steady and defiant. âThatâs none of your concern.â
Eric fell silent for a moment. Fine, let it be!
He suddenly released her and rose from the sofa, his imposing figure casting a long shadow. Freed at last, Hadley exhaled, steadying herself.
âHey, you.â A police officer strode toward her. âYouâre coming with us.â
âWhy?â
Hadley, still rattled, snapped her head up in shock.
âWe have reason to believe youâre involved in illegal activities here. Youâll need to come down to the station for questioning.â
Illegal activities?
