Chapter 171
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 171:
âI wonât,â Hadley replied quietly, shaking her head.
âNot many people have treated me well. After my grandma passed, it was just Nyla and Ernest, back then. This guy⦠heâs the third. Iâm grateful for him.â
Ericâs breath hitched.
He wanted to say something. What about him? Hadnât he been good to her?
But the words caught in his throat. He hadnât been good to her. In fact, heâd been terrible.
But could he really be blamed? If she hadnât pushed so hard to marry him⦠Maybe he could have treated her better.
Frustration bubbled up inside Eric.
âWho the hell is this guy?â he thought. He needed to find out.
That evening, Hadley arrived at Galant as usual.
Lennon slipped into the dressing room with some news. âHadley, I spoke with Duran. Everythingâs set up for you. Just be prepared.â
âAlright.â Hadley took a steadying breath and nodded. âThanks.â
âNo need to thank me,â Lennon replied, his voice carrying a mix of excitement and anxiety. âDown the road, I might need you to put in a good word for me with Duran.â
âYouâre too kind, Mr. Lewis,â Hadley said with a smile.
Inside, she was already bracing herself. Some things just had to be done.
The following day, Hadley made time to visit the hospital.
She checked in, waited her turn, and was finally called in to see the doctor.
The doctor paused, tapping the paper as he met Hadleyâs gaze. âThis medication isnât something you should take lightly. Follow the prescribed dosage exactly.â
âGot it,â Hadley said.
âIf you notice any adverse effects, stop right away and come back to see me.â
âUnderstood.â

âAnd,â the doctor added, handing her the prescription, âmake sure to return for regular follow-ups. Iâm responsible for your care.â
âAlright, thank you. Iâm sorry for the trouble.â
Hadley took the prescription, paid at the counter, and picked up her medication from the pharmacy.
She had only managed to see this doctor because of Colleen. The truth was, considering her condition, the doctor wasnât supposed to prescribe these kinds of meds.
But Hadley needed them desperately, so she had relied on Colleen to make it happen.
She was fully aware that the medication could cause side effects, but she didnât have much of a choice.
Her condition, the one that made her unable to tolerate being touched, would make it impossible for her to throw herself into Duranâs arms.
And for that reason, she needed such medical help.
Hadley held the medicine bottle tightly, as if it were her last lifeline.
With this, there was nothing to be afraid of.
That evening, at Galant.
After the performance, Lennon led her toward a private room in the back. âHeâs waiting inside.â
âAlright.â
