Chapter 191
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 191:
Ericâs frown deepened as his annoyance grew. Even with Duran out of the picture, Hadley might still be misled. And now, it seemed, it was his burden to handle.
Dealing with his ex-wife was proving to be an increasingly demanding task.
Two days later, Hadley was feeling much better. Although her voice remained slightly hoarse, the pain had eased considerably. After a conversation with Lennon, she decided it was time to return to performing.
That night, as Hadley was applying her makeup in the dressing room, Lennon appeared at the door.
âHadley!â His face was alight with excitement, practically vibrating with enthusiasm. âYou wonât believe it!â
Hadley looked up, her expression curious. âWhat is it?â Her voice was still faint, hardly more than a whisper.
Unable to hold back his joy, Lennon burst out laughing. âMr. Flynn⦠heâs back! Itâs unfortunate about Duran, but can you believe itâMr. Flynn has returned! Seems like fate is on your side, Hadley!â His laughter filled the room.
Indeed, Duran might have been a fine option. However, Eric Flynn was in a league of his own.
Yet, a smile failed to form on Hadleyâs lips. She understood the truthâEric wasnât here to support her. He was merely keeping tabs on her.
As he had bluntly put it, he viewed her dancing in a nightclub as a stain on the Flynn familyâs reputation.
âHadley,â Lennonâs voice grew more earnest. He remembered well the recent strains between her and Eric. With a soothing, convincing tone, he said, âTry to relax a bit. No matter what, just play along with him, okay? Menâparticularly those successful ones like himâvalue their pride. Just flatter him a bit, keep him content, and believe me, itâll work wonders for you.â
He winked, then whispered confidentially, âBelieve me, aligning with Eric will benefit you far more than Duran ever could.â
Hadley managed a dry laugh and nodded in agreement. âUnderstood.â
âThatâs the attitude.â

With a supportive pat on her shoulder, Lennon said, âNow, go onâMr. Flynn is eager to watch you perform.â
After the performance, Hadley removed her makeup and changed before stepping out through the backstage door. She found Eric waiting there, casually leaning against the wall.
Unsure how long he had been there, she noticed him turn toward her as soon as he heard her approach. He didnât waste time with pleasantries, simply saying, âLetâs go.â Without a word, Hadley followed him.
Eric led her to his car and opened the passenger door. âHop in.â
Taking a deep breath, Hadley slid into the vehicle.
As they drove off, she stole a glance at him and said, âCan you⦠maybe stop visiting Galant?â
âSure,â Eric replied smoothly. âIf Iâm tied up, even if you ask, I wonât make it.â
However, he then flashed her a sly smile. âBut just so you know⦠Iâve made my stance very clearâno one in Srixby who respects the name Eric Flynn will entertain any ideas about you.â
