Chapter 195
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 195:
âHeyâ¦â In a gentle reminder, Hadley murmured, âThe lights are back on now.â
Eric looked up, his face unreadable. Internally, he was in turmoil. Was he just moments away from kissing Hadley? How could that even happen? When had she begun to affect him so?
What went wrong? What had led to this?
Attempting to appear detached, Eric stepped back and said casually, âWell, everything seems normal now. I should get going.â
âAlright.â
Rising as well, Hadley escorted him to the door. âBe careful out there.â
âWill do.â
With that, Eric left and didnât look back.
Stepping out of the apartment building, Eric stopped and gazed up at the light from Hadleyâs window. His expression was unreadable, the shadows of his long eyelashes veiling any hint of his thoughts.
The following day, Eric made his way to see his elder brother, Ernest.
A phone call from Ernestâs doctor had prompted Ericâs visit, arriving alone as Linda was tied up with a film shoot. The call had been urgent, with the doctor needing to speak directly to Eric.
âCan you lay out the situation for me?â Eric asked, his brow creased with concern, dreading potentially dire news.
The doctor offered a reassuring smile. âMr. Flynn, donât worry, I bring good news. Weâve got a promising opportunity. A breakthrough drug from Aradimen, specifically designed for conditions like your brotherâs.â
âWhat?â Ericâs interest sparked. âReally? Tell me more.â
The doctor explained, âThis new treatment was developed by a team in Aradimen and is showing promise in clinical trials, particularly with patients who are trapped in long-term vegetative states.â
He continued, âGiven that your brother has been comatose yet stable due to excellent care, this treatment could prove effective.â

However, the medication was rare and not mass-produced, making it both costly and difficult to obtain.
Yet, Ericâs family had resources. The doctor believed Eric could manage what he couldnât.
âMr. Flynn, do you think you can secure this drug?â
âYes.â Eric nodded. âIâll figure it out.â
Determined, Eric committed to doing whatever it took to retrieve the drug for Ernest, hopeful to bring him back from the brink of his long confinement.
Pausing briefly, Eric then instructed the doctor, âLetâs keep thisâ¦
âBetween us, away from my grandmother and Linda for the moment.â
âOkay, I understand.â
The doctor nodded, understanding Ericâs cautious approach. While the treatment had proven effective for some, its success was far from guaranteed. Past experiences had tempered their expectations.
