Chapter 224
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 224:
âIs there a real possibility that my brother might recover?â
âWhile I canât make any promises, the signs weâre seeing suggest a strong potential for improvement.â
Eric found solace in the doctorâs cautious optimism, even if it lacked certainty.
âThatâs great to hear,â Eric said with genuine gratitude. âI appreciate everything youâre doing.â
âThereâs no need to thank me; Iâm simply doing my job.â
After offering those words, the doctor departed from the room.
Eric lingered for a moment longer by Ernestâs side and then whispered gently, âErnest, if youâre listening, I need to share something else. I want to be with Hadley. You would support that, right?â
Naturally, there was no reply from Ernest.
âYour silence is as good as consent.â
Leaving the hospital, Eric felt an unusual lightness in his step. Later that day, he was due to meet Linda at the airport as she returned to town.
Her flight landed right on time, and soon after Ericâs arrival, Linda emerged from the terminal.
Leading her entourage, Lindaâs tall, slender frame was noticeable even behind sunglasses and a mask, attracting glances in the bustling crowd.
Linda had always been striking, a beauty that once drew the attention of both Flynn brothers.
In the end, she had chosen Ernestâ¦
Ericâs thoughts drifted to those distant days as he squinted slightly. âTired?â
He opened the car door for Linda and cautiously helped her in to avoid any bumps. âHop in.â
âThank you,â Linda replied with a tired smile, slipping into the car.

Eric got in after her.
Once inside, Linda removed her sunglasses and mask, exposing a bare, visibly weary face.
Judging by Lindaâs tired look, Eric surmised she had been overworking during her shoot.
âAre you okay?â Eric inquired, his voice filled with concern. âMaybe you should consider getting some rest after you get home.â
âI wish I could,â Linda responded, shaking her head. âI have to attend an event tonight. Just drop me off on your way.â
Eric frowned slightly. âWhy are you packing your schedule so tightly?â
âItâs just the way things are,â Linda explained with a resigned shrug and a wry smile. âEveryoneâs striving to get ahead in this industry.â
âYou shouldnât have to overextend yourself,â Eric said. He then quickly added, âYouâre already well-positioned compared to many.â His tone carried a note of protectiveness that didnât go unnoticed.
Linda paused briefly, offering a faint smile in response.
Eric paused, wondering if heâd said too much.
âJust take care of yourself, okay?â Eric said. âErnest would hate to see you like this.â
