Chapter 236
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 236:
A surge of frustration hit Eric. âHow am I playing games?â
âWhat would you call it, then?â Nylaâs expression hardened. âHave you completely lost your mind? Youâve never cared for Hadley. This seems like a desperate attempt just to keep her away from Denver.â
âGrandmaâ¦â Eric attempted to speak.
âListen, Eric.â Nyla grasped his hand, her voice softening as she tried to reason with him. âYou need to let Hadley go. Itâs rare for her to find someone like Denverâ¦â
âAfter everything, I can see he truly cares for her.â Her years of wisdom and keen observation of human nature told her that Denverâs affections were genuine.
âGrandmaâ¦â
A sinking feeling of defeat began to take hold of Eric.
It was a classic case of being caught in his own trap.
âYes, I knowâ¦â Eric conceded, a reluctant acceptance in his voice. âI never liked her in the past. But things have changed.â
At his words, Nyla paused, giving him a piercing look.
As clearly as she recognized Denverâs honest intentions, she could see that Ericâs declaration was sincere. Yet, she needed confirmation.
âAre you truly serious about this?â
âYes,â Eric replied, holding Nylaâs gaze firmly. âAbsolutely, I am.â
Nyla gaspedânot loudly, but enough to betray her shock.
She was momentarily at a loss for words, but then she managed to ask, âBut why?â
Was it really possible for someone to shift from pure dislike to this?
Eric struggled to find an explanation.
If he had figured out why he disliked Hadley so much before, maybe he would understand why he felt differently now.

Yet, no rational explanation surfaced.
All Eric could say was, âGrandma, Iâve realized I want to be with Hadley. Youâve always hoped weâd reconcile. Can I count on your support?â
Nyla attempted to respond, but words failed her.
How could she have anticipated that her grandson would change his heart so thoroughly in such a short time while she was recuperating from her surgery?
Leaving the room, Eric didnât secure Nylaâs support right away, but he wasnât too concerned.
After all, he was Nylaâs grandsonâsurely, she wouldnât prefer an outsider to him.
However, his primary concern remained unresolved.
The real issue? Hadley.
She had actually refused him.
Was Denver truly a better choice? Superior to him?
That was a notion Eric refused to entertain.
If Hadley didnât want to return to him willingly, then heâd find a way to make her see they belonged together.
By the time evening rolled around and Hadley stepped into Galant, Lennon summoned her to his office immediately.
