Chapter 259
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 259:
âDo I need a reason to call?â
Yet, he did have a purpose. âIâll pick you up at six. Stay at home until then.â
Hadley scowled. âWhy should I?â
Why should she wait for him at all?
Before she could finish her sentence, Eric cut in. âItâs decided. I have things to handle. Weâll talk later.â With that, he ended the call.
âHey!â Hadley let out a short laugh, clearly beyond frustrated. âSo be it! Eric can do whatever he wants. Iâve got my own path to follow,â she muttered to herself.
Reaching her destination, Hadley stepped off the bus and made her way into the office tower, where the dance studio awaited on the fifth floor.
Upon entering the elevator, she was immediately greeted by a familiar voice. âHadley?â
Looking ahead, Hadley saw Linda beaming at her. âFancy meeting you here. Itâs been ages.â
Hadley gave her only a fleeting glance and remained silent.
Lindaâs smile quickly faded, replaced by a scornful tone. âReally, not even a âhiâ? I said helloâcanât you at least acknowledge that?â
Facing Linda squarely, Hadley replied, âSave your courtesies. Thereâs no need for pretenses. Eric isnât here, and neither is Nyla⦠Who are you trying to impress?â
âYouââ
Interrupting, Hadley cocked her head. âOr is it that youâve been pretending for so long youâve convinced yourself youâre genuinely decent? That must be exhausting.â
âYouââ
Lindaâs face went pale, then turned red with anger.
With a dismissive scoff, she retorted sharply, âYouâre here for an interview, right?â
A smug grin spread across Lindaâs face. âWell, Iâd suggest you stop wasting your time. Because in Srixby⦠you wonât find a job.â

Hadley stopped in her tracks. âWhat do you mean by that?â
âWhat do I mean?â Linda folded her arms, smirking as she enjoyed the moment. âIsnât it obvious? Do you not see how dire your situation is?â She looked Hadley up and down with clear disdain. âWhile I wonât critique your talentsâsince you did graduate from an esteemed arts college in BlatheâIs it possible youâre so inept that no one will employ you?â
Frustration furrowed Hadleyâs brow. âWhat are you trying to say?â Her patience was wearing thin. It was clear Linda was toying with her.
âJust get to the point, or drop it.â
âAlright, Iâll explain,â Linda said, her smirk widening. âItâs Ericâs doingâevery dance venue in Srixby has been instructed not to hire you.â
Hadley gasped, disbelief washing over her. This couldnât be happening⦠Then it all clicked. The continuous rejections over the last few days werenât due to her lack of ability. It wasnât her fault.
It was Eric. He had systematically cut off all her potential opportunities.
What was his motive? To drive her into desperation?
A chill ran through her as she clenched her fists, her complexion turning pale.
