Chapter 265
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 265:
âMr. Flynn, Iâll mentor her.â
âThank you, Ms. Nicolson.â Ericâs expression transformed into a warm smile, a sight seldom seen. âHadley is now under your guidance, and for that, I am deeply appreciative. Should she step out of line, I hope youâll be lenient with her.â
Blanche lifted an eyebrow in intrigue. The dynamics between Hadley and Eric were clearly not typical. It made sense now how Hadley had managed to engage someone of Ericâs stature.
Blanche then pondered why Hadley had previously struggled so much in Blathe, especially with such influential backing. Yet, she chose to keep her musings to herself, responding with a nod and a pleasant smile. âGreat.â
Exiting the dance studio, Hadley remained quiet the entire journey. Eric glanced over at her. At this moment, she seemed surprisingly docile, like a turtle retreating into its shell. She displayed no resistance, only subdued agreement.
âWhy the silence?â Eric teased playfully. âYou were quite upset earlier on our way here.â
Hadley continued to keep her gaze down, offering no response.
âIs something bothering you?â
Eric sensed her distress and extended his hand toward her.
âPlease donâtâ¦â
Hadley averted her face, clearly uncomfortable with his approach. Respecting her space, Eric held back, noticing the tremor in her voice that hinted at tears.
He hesitated and then asked softly, âIs everything alright? Are you crying?â
Without a word, Hadley turned away from him, her slight frame visibly shaking.
âAre tears actually falling?â Eric asked, concern growing.
He moved closer and gently placed his hands on her shoulders, trying to turn her to face him. âLet me look at youâ¦â
âWhat for?â
Hadley whipped around, her eyes red and teary as she met his gaze. âWhy do you have to see? Do you find this interesting? Isnât it common to see someone cry?â
Her defiance was evident as she lifted her chin. âWell, if youâre so fascinated, go ahead and stare!â
Eric recoiled from her sharp reaction and quickly withdrew his hands. âI didnât mean it like that,â he murmured, his words tumbling out hastily. âI didnât mean to offend. I was just concerned about youâ¦â
âConcerned?â Hadleyâs expression was a mix of tearfulness and a wry smile. âYouâre odd! Why would you arrange this for me?â
âWhat?â Taken aback, Eric hesitated. âIsnât it what you wanted? You donât want to work with Ms. Nicolson?â
Hadley looked at him, tears continuing to trace her cheeks, yet she said nothing.
Ericâs confidence wavered.
âYou truly donât like it?â
Her tears seemed to answer loudly.
âI didnât realize it upset you so deeplyâ¦â Hastily, he added, âIâll speak with Ms. Nicolson immediately. You donât have to go through with thisâ¦â With that, he turned to leave.
