Chapter 293
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 293:
âCaught you daydreaming, huh? Mr. Flynnâs not the type to play Romeo!â
âGet over it alreadyâyouâre still his candied hawthorns errand girl!â
âTwo packs, donât forget!â
Laughter bounced off the walls, filling the air with mirth.
Once the meeting wrapped up, Eric strolled back to his office, only to find Linda already perched within. âLinda? To what do I owe the pleasure?â
Sheâd swept in mere minutes earlier, barely settled in.
Ericâs query was light, a breezy bit of chitchat meant to fill the air. Yet, ever since Linda had caught wind of his hushed exchange with Nyla, a nagging thorn of doubt had taken root. Now, she couldnât shake the suspicion that his welcome mat wasnât exactly rolled out for her.
âWhatâs this? Have I worn out my welcome already?â
Eric raised his eyebrows, startled. âWhatâs that coming from?â
Quickly concealing her annoyance with a grin, Linda responded, âJust a little humor. Why are you taking it so seriously?â
She then explained her presence. âI stopped by for a meeting with East Entertainment.â
East Entertainment Media, a subsidiary of the Flynn Group, shared the building with Ericâs office.
Linda had scheduled today to discuss with her agent how to lighten her future workload, canceling or postponing non-urgent appointments, though she still had some commitments to honor.
Getting to her feet, she said, âIâve managed my schedule and just thought Iâd check in with you before leaving. Iâve got work later.â
âUnderstood.â Eric nodded briefly. âIâll let you get on with your evening.â
âAnyway,â Linda interjected before he could finish. Her eyes landed on the two brown paper bags on the coffee table. She gestured toward them. âJust curiousâwhat are those?â
âOh, those?â Eric glanced at the bags, recognition dawning. âThose are candied hawthorns.â

His answer came out plain and simple.
Linda, intrigued, raised an eyebrow. âWhen did you start liking this kind of snack?â
Eric hesitated, careful not to mention they were meant for Hadley. âItâs just something I felt like nibbling on.â
âReally? Are they good?â Linda inquired as she bent over, opened a bag, and tried a piece.
âNot too bad,â she commented after tasting it.
âSee?â Eric replied, a subtle twitch in his brow. Swiftly, he handed her the opened bag. âWhy donât you take this one with you?â
Linda chuckled and replied, âReally? Are you sure?â
âYes, theyâre just some treats,â Eric responded casually. âIâve got more here.â
After all, the bag was already openâgiving it to Hadley was no longer an option.
Linda laughed as she took the bag. âThanks, then. Iâm off.â
