Chapter 308
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 308:
After a fierce struggle, a low grunt escaped Denver as he was forcefully pinned to the ground by Eric.
âTrying to steal her from me?â
A wild, almost untamed glint flickered in Ericâs eyesâsomething Hadley had never seen in him before.
âYouâre begging for trouble!â
To Hadley, Eric was unrecognizable, transformed into someone horrible.
As Eric drew back his fist once more, fear gripped Hadley; she was terrified he might kill Denver.
âStop!â
Driven by fear, Hadley sprang forward, shielding Denver with her own body.
Ericâs fist froze, quivering as he battled the impulse to strike.
âMove away from him!â
His voice was harsh, teeth clenched in anger.
âI wonât!â
Hadley pivoted to confront Eric, her eyes ablaze with defiance. âYou want to hit someone? Then hit me! Iâm the one rejecting you! Iâm the one who loves Denver! Go ahead, kill me if thatâs what you want!â
âHadley?â
Did she really love Denver enough to put her life on the line for him? Ericâs heart squeezed painfully. Never had Hadley shown such fervor, not even during the days she seemed inseparable from him.
âAnd me? What about me?â Eric couldnât accept her words. âAfter all weâve been through⦠youâve never thought of me?â
Hadleyâs resolve was firm. âNot once.â
Eric stood there, dumbfounded.

Turning her attention away from Eric, Hadley knelt beside Denver. âAre you alright, Denver?â
âIâm alright, just a bit soreâ¦â
Denver tried to shrug it off but grimaced from the pain.
âYou call this alright?â
Hadley noticed the blood trickling from Denverâs split lip and the swelling on his jaw, her concern deepening for the injuries hidden from view.
âLetâs get you on your feet.â
âOkay.â With Hadleyâs assistance, Denver managed to rise to his feet, albeit shakily.
Suddenly, he gripped his abdomen.
âAre you okay?â Concern washed over Hadleyâs face. âDid he hit you in the stomach?â
Denver dismissed it with a shake of his head, recalling the blow but not believing it to be critical.
âItâs not too badâ¦â
âHow can you be sure?â
Tears were close to spilling from Hadleyâs eyes as she felt responsible for Denverâs pain. She whispered, âIâm so sorryâ¦â
