Chapter 314
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 314:
A deep breath escaped Hadley, her tension easing at last. She hadnât felt brave enough to look around until now. âCan we go now?â She said âweâ?
A wave of happiness washed over Denver.
His smile broadened as he replied, âYes, we canâ¦â
Feeling unexpectedly bashful, he asked, âHadley, are you free this evening? Iâd love to take you to dinner, if youâd like?â The proposal Denver made seemed subtly suggestive.
Hadley was caught in a dilemma; accepting might imply she was open to further advances, and declining could come off as discourteous. Just then, a vehicle halted next to them, and her name echoed from within. âHadley?â
They both glanced over as the window descended, unveiling Nyla. Nyla had been visiting Ernest in the hospital and was on her way back to the Flynn residence when she noticed someone familiar.
Upon a closer look, indeed, it was Hadley. But Hadley wasnât by herself.
Her attention then shifted to Denver.
âDenver?â she inquired.
âYes, itâs me,â responded Denver, stepping forward and courteously bowing his head. âHow are you, Mrs. Flynn?â
âQuite well, thank you,â Nyla responded, her smile polite yet her feelings ambivalent.
âAre you two perhaps on a date?â she asked cautiously.
Hadley was caught off guard, her lips parting in surprise.
âYes,â Denver responded on Hadleyâs behalf, giving her a reassuring glance. âWe appreciate your support. Weâre exploring how things might develop between us.â
âI see,â Nyla responded, her eyes seeking confirmation from Hadley. Observing Hadleyâs flushed cheeks, Nyla realized there was no objection from her. It appeared to be the truth.
âThatâs good,â Nyla said, her voice expressing genuine relief.
âIndeed, very good,â she added, her tone warm.

Nyla felt genuinely pleased for Hadley as she embarked on this new journey. Still, knowing Ericâs feelings for Hadley made her heart heavy with sympathy for her grandson.
However, Nyla quickly composed herself, smiling invitingly at Hadley. âNow that weâve run into each other, why donât you join me for dinner at home later? Itâs been too long since your last visit.â
Hadley paused, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. She shared a look with Denver.
With a playful smile, Nyla asked, âWhatâs the matter, Hadley? Worried about leaving Denver by himself? Why donât you both come then? Denver, having dinner at my place wouldnât bother you, right?â
âNot at all,â Denver replied, his cheeks coloring slightly. âSince youâre Hadleyâs family, that makes you mine as well.â
âThatâs just what I wanted to hear!â Nyla laughed heartily and motioned to her driver. âPlease open the door for Hadley.â
âIâve got it, Mrs. Flynn,â Denver interjected, swiftly moving to open the car door himself. He gently held the roof as he stood by. âNo rush, Hadley.â
âThanks.â Hadley gave Denver a warm smile before gracefully sliding into the car.
