Chapter 317
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 317:
Even Nyla was advocating for Hadley and Denver?
Eric suppressed his frustration, responding lightly, âIâm not planning anything against them. Why all this fuss?â
âIs that the truth?â Nyla eyed him doubtfully.
âIt is,â Eric confirmed with a slight chuckle. âWhat else can I do? Should I waste my days longing for her? Sheâs not worth that much.â
Nyla acknowledged his point with a nod. âAlright, Eric. It seems you never had deep feelings for Hadley. Perhaps youâre simply bothered that she now prefers someone else.â
Startled by her suggestion, Eric reflected.
âIs that so? Grandma, are you suggesting that my feelings for Hadley are just because⦠she chose someone else over me?â
Nyla gave a serious nod. âYes, I believe thatâs the case. If not, why havenât you shown any interest in her over these years?â
Eric stood speechless, taken aback.
âTime will heal this, and youâll be fine. Unlike you, Denver has a genuine affection for Hadley.â
Continuing her thoughts with a sigh, Nyla added, âI do hope they stay together. It would mean that all the care Iâve put into raising Hadley wasnât for nothing, and Iâd fulfill the promise I made to her grandmother.â
Later that night, the warm streams of the shower washed over Ericâs scarred back as he stood there, eyes shut. The echo of Nylaâs words lingered in his head.
âYouâve never truly loved Hadley.â
âYouâre simply bothered that she now prefers someone else.â
âIf not, why havenât you shown any interest in her over these years?â
Reflecting on her words, he muttered internally, âCould that be true?â

âYes, thatâs it exactly. Thereâs no other explanation.â
It was the weekend, and Eric wasnât expecting any company.
Descending the stairs, he halted in surprise at the sight of Hadley conversing with Nyla.
âEric?â Nyla gestured for him to come closer as he approached. âGood timing. We need to talk about something important.â
âWhatâs on your mind?â
Eric, settling into the couch, began to peel a tangerine from the nearby fruit platter.
Nyla wasted no time. âItâs time you and Hadley arranged a date to officially finalize your divorce.â
Ericâs actions paused mid-peel. His eyes shot up, connecting with Hadleyâs. Could this be the reason for her early morning visit?
Hadley, catching his gaze, nodded gently. In a soft voice, she said, âYes, as Iâve agreed with Nyla. Iâm moving forward with my life with Denver, so we need to finalize our divorce, Eric.â
âAgreed.â Nyla was quick to stress the urgency. âWe must handle this swiftly. If the Moran family learns the divorce hasnât been finalized, it could lead to complications!â
She fixed a stern gaze on Eric. âDecide on a date today, Eric. I wonât forgive you if you jeopardize Hadleyâs future!â
