Chapter 322
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 322:
âUnderstood, Ms. Nicolson.â
âGood.â
With a teasing tone, Blanche added, âDance your heart out. Remember, Lightning Studioâs tickets sell out quickly. If you stumble up there, losing fame is nothing compared to embarrassing us all!â
âMs. Nicolson.â Hadley promised earnestly. âI wonât disappoint youâ Iâll give it everything Iâve got!â
Later that evening, Denver arrived to pick up Hadley.
In recent days, Denver had become a regular part of Hadleyâs routine.
According to him, their arrangement still needed to continue. After all, there was always the chance Eric might suddenly take interest again if they stopped pretending.
Denver was always respectful, never pushing Hadley too far. Usually, he dropped her off at West Twelfth Alley. Occasionally, they shared casual meals, always splitting expenses evenly.
Tonight, Denver stopped the car just at the corner of Mayfield Road.
âSorry I canât walk you home today. I need to rush to the airport shortly,â Denver said casually.
âA business trip?â
âYes,â Denver confirmed with a nod. âIâm heading to Prineville. Iâll be away about a week.â
âHave a safe tripâand remember to rest well, especially with the time difference.â
Hadley grabbed her backpack, preparing to leave. âI wonât keep you then.â
âHadley!â
Hearing his hesitant tone, Hadley turned with a warm smile. âWhatâs on your mind? Just say it.â
She genuinely considered Denver one of her closest friends now.

Denver rubbed his neck, seeming slightly shy. âWhen I get back, my birthdayâs just around the corner, and Iâd really like it if you came to the party.â His birthday party?
Hadley recalled the extravagant event Nyla once arranged for her own birthday. Would this party be similar?
Imagining Denverâs family gathered together made her nervous.
âIt wonât be anything extravagant,â Denver quickly assured her, smiling. âNyla had her own reasons for hosting something flashy and crowded for you. Mine will just be a casual get-together with a few close friends.â
If that was the case, it was a relief.
Hadley exhaled softly, reminding herself that she truly was considered one of his friends now.
âHadley?â Denver asked gently. âWill you come?â
âAbsolutely!â Hadley agreed readily. âJust let me know the exact date so I can keep it free.â
Denverâs face brightened noticeably. âThatâs great!â
Checking his watch, he sighed. âI really have to hurry now. Iâll see you when I get back!â
âTake care!â Hadley waved, watching his car disappear.
