Chapter 340
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 340:
âYeah, sure,â Denver said, watching as she quietly shut the door.
He exhaled, running a hand over his face.
It wasnât frustration he felt. It was something heavierâhelplessness, maybe. How was he supposed to help her fix this?
âBarrie!â The thought struck Denver suddenly. Without hesitation, he turned and headed downstairs, pulling out his phone as he went.
âMarshall, hey. Itâs me. Are you with Barrie right now?â
When Denver arrived, he found only Marshall and Barrie waiting. Marshall gestured for him to take a seat. âWhatâs going on?â he asked. Barrie put his glass down and turned to Denver. âMarshall told me you needed me for something. Whatâs up? If thereâs anything I can do, just say the word.â
âI appreciate it, man.â
With time pressing and Hadleyâs disappointed face fresh in his mind, Denver wasted no time.
âIâll cut straight to it. Hereâs whatâs happeningâ¦â
Barrie listened closely, his expression growing tense as he took it all in. âSo thatâs how it went down?â
He recalled how hard Eric had pushed to get Hadley out of Galant and into Blancheâs troupe. But before she even had a real chance to prove herself, she was cast aside.
âBarrie,â Denverâs voice was urgent. âYour mom and Ms. Nicolson are pretty tight, right? Do you think you could talk to her?â
âWellâ¦â
Barrie hesitated to reveal that Eric had already cashed in that favor. Even so, refusing outright wasnât easy. After a pause, he finally gave a nod. âAlright. Iâll bring it up with my mom and see if thereâs anything she can do.â
âSeriously, thank you!â
âHeyâ¦â Barrie shot him a look. âHold off on that. No promises this will work.â

Barrie had heard from his mother that Blanche was known for her strictness. The only reason she had made an exception for Hadley was because of her undeniable talent and skill. But this time, it wasnât about talentâit was about Blancheâs rules. This wasnât going to be easy.
Denver felt the weight of the situation pressing on him, but he held on to whatever hope he could. âNo matter what happens, I appreciate you trying.â
âYeah, sure,â Barrie said as he got to his feet. âIâll call her right now.â
âReally appreciate it.â
It wouldnât take long to make the call.
True enough, Barrie was back in no time, still holding his phone. âAlright, talked to my mom. Now we just have to wait and see what she says.â
âGot it.â
Denver gave a slight nod, though a faint frown remained. Then, turning to Marshall, he said, âWell, I should get goingâ¦â
âWhoa, hold on!â
Marshall stopped him before he could leave. âYouâre already hereâmight as well stay for dinner.â
