Chapter 365
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 365:
Once she had packed up her things, Hadley was exiting the film set when her phone rang.
âHello, Hadley?â
Background noise filled the other end.
Denverâs voice grew louder. âI know you are shooting tonight. Are you done? Iâm nearby and can swing by to pick you up.â
Certainly, Denver hadnât just happened to be in the area.
Yet, because Hadley hadnât yet reciprocated his feelings, he was careful not to seem too eager.
âYouâre nearby?â Pausing, Hadley scanned her surroundings. âIâm right at the entrance. Canât spot you, though. Where exactly are you?â
âIâve got my eyes on you. Just hold your position.â
âUnderstood.â
Shortly after, Denverâs vehicle came to a halt in front of her.
He exited the car and approached her with a brisk stride.
âDenver!â
This evening, Hadleyâs spirits were particularly high. Not only had her professional circumstances improved, but Joyâs surgery was also firmly on the calendar!
Years of uncertainty were giving way to a promising phase in her life. Her face was radiant with happiness, and Denver couldnât resist smiling as well.
âYou seem really joyful tonight, arenât you?â

âIndeed, I am!â Catching his eye, Hadley expressed her gratitude. âDenver, really, thank you.â
âHuh?â He looked puzzled. âFor what? What did I do?â
âHave you forgotten already?â With a playful pout and a twinkle in her eye, Hadley said, âYou got Barrieâs mom to talk to Ms. Nicolson for me.â
âOh, right.â Denverâs response was slow, as if putting the pieces together. âBut that wasââ
âIt worked!â Bursting into laughter, Hadley exclaimed, âMs. Nicolson visited me tonight! She told me to come back to the dance troupe tomorrow!â
âIs that so?â Denver reacted with a mix of surprise and joy. âThatâs incredible, definitely a reason to celebrate. Butâ¦â
He paused, uncertain. âBarrie mentioned that his mom didnât manage to sway Ms. Nicolsonâ¦â
âReally?â Taken by surprise, Hadley questioned, âSo, Mrs. Hanson wasnât the one who intervened?â Puzzled, she added, âThen who was it that convinced Ms. Nicolson? What a mystery!â
Denver shrugged off any notion of his involvement. âWell, it wasnât me. Maybe Mrs. Hanson tried again and it worked? I need to thank Barrie next time I see him.â
âAbsolutely!â Grinning, Hadley affirmed. âI owe thanks to him, to Mrs. Hanson, and to you. I couldnât even have reached out to Barrie on my own.â
With sincerity, she expressed her gratitude. âThank you, Denver.â Overflowing with joy, she suggested, âAre you feeling hungry? Letâs grab a bite together! My treat!â
