Chapter 385
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 385:
Hearing this, Denver stood frozen. Never had he intended to issue such an ultimatum to force his parents to accept Hadley, yet here his mother was, pushing him into a choice he had not planned to make so soon.
âI will not give up on Hadley.â Denver let out a deep sigh. âIf that is truly what you want, then fine⦠I will leave.â
Without another word, he turned back toward his room.
Wilma was completely caught off guard. Without hesitation, she hurried after him, her pulse quickening as she watched in disbeliefâhe was actually packing his bags.
Panic flared in her eyes, and she snapped, âDo you think walking away is that easy? Iâll freeze your accounts too!â
Denver hesitated mid-motion. âMom?â
Believing she had finally struck fear into him, Wilma let out a triumphant smirk. âFeeling scared now? Thatâs more like it! You were really about to throw everything away for that womanââ
âEnough.â Denverâs jaw tightened as he swallowed his anger. No matter how furious he was, she was still his mother. He didnât want to cross a line he couldnât return from. But that didnât mean he would just stand there and take it.
âMom, Hadley is the woman I love. The least you can do is show her some respect. Do whatever you want, but my decision is final.â He knew one thing for certainâleaving this house wouldnât spell his doom. He would survive. But Hadley? He couldnât give up on her. Without another word, Denver zipped his suitcase shut, grabbed the handle, and turned to leave.
âWhat is happening here?â

Roderick arrived just in time to witness the unfolding scene. His chest tightened as he reached for his sonâs arm. âWhere do you think youâre going? We should talk this through!â
âLet him go! Do not stop him!â Wilma shot her husband a withering glare and snapped, âDenver has lost all sense! If heâs so determined to leave, then let him!â
âDad.â Denver freed himself from his fatherâs grasp, his expression calm yet unwavering. âI am leaving. Take care of yourselves.â With that, he strode toward the stairs, his suitcase rolling behind him.
âHeyâ¦â Roderick called after him, his voice laced with hesitation. âLet him go!â
Wilma latched onto her husbandâs arm, watching their sonâs retreating figure with thinly veiled frustration. âHe actually believes living on his own will be a walk in the park? Heâs never faced a real struggleâletâs see how long he lasts!â
Roderick blinked, caught off guard. âWell⦠if that is what you think.â
The following day, Eric heard from Marshall about Denverâs abrupt departure from his family home.
Barrie let out a low whistle. âSo he really got kicked out?â
âYes,â Marshall nodded. âAunt Wilma is serious. She has warned all relatives and friends not to extend a helping hand unless they want to be on her bad side.â
With that decree in place, who would dare to defy her?
âWow.â Barrie clicked his tongue. âThatâs brutal. Looks like she has no intention of ever accepting Hadley.â
As he spoke, his gaze flicked toward Eric.
