Chapter 391
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 391:
Hadleyâs eyes, filled with tears, were fixed on Eric.
Eric froze. He could see itâshe was genuinely crying this time.
Her tears dampened his anger.
Eric stood motionless, even stooping to her height since she was still gripping his tie.
He rummaged for a handkerchief in his pocket.
âOkay, okay, I admit itâs my fault.â
He extended a fine cotton handkerchief to her.
âStop crying⦠I know you care about Denver so much, so donât worry. With the support of me and the Flynn family, he wouldnât dare turn you awayâ¦â
âWhat are you implying?â Hadley, tears streaking her face, glared at him.
âStop meddling! My life isnât your concern!â
âWhat now? What did I do?â
Ericâs patience was thinning again, but faced with Hadleyâs intense stare, he conceded, his brow furrowed in frustration. âAlright, Iâll back off. Are you satisfied now?â Did she really think he was eager to meddle?
If he interfered once more, heâd consider himself a fool!
Eric looked around. âItâs tough to find a taxi around here. Come on, get in the car. Letâs get you home first. And then, I promise not to butt in anymore, alright?â
With that, he turned away sharply.
Behind him, Hadley was smoothing her hair when she suddenly covered her eyes.

From a distance, Eric realized she hadnât followed him. He turned back, calling out, âCome on! Whatâs taking so long?â She just stood there, hands over her eyes.
What could be the issue?
Debating whether to step in or not for only a brief moment, he quickly retraced his steps and leaned down slightly. âSomething wrong with your eyes?â
âIâm not sure,â Hadley responded, shaking her head while still covering her eyes. âMight be an eyelash, or maybe some dust.â
âLet me have a lookâ¦â
Eric extended his hand, cautiously reaching toward her face.
Hadley instinctively pulled back, but Eric persisted. âStop dodging! What do you think Iâm going to do? I donât bite, alright?â He firmly grasped her arm and gently lifted her eyelid.
While inspecting her eye, he joked, âHonestly, even if I did, Iâd choose someone a bit meatier. Donât want to break a tooth on you.â
Hadley felt cornered.
His words always had a slightly menacing tone, didnât they?
âThere, I see it. Stay still for a second, Iâll get it out⦠There you go.â He gently blew on her eye, causing a refreshing sensation as he stepped back. Peering at her cautiously, he asked, âBetter now?â
Hadley blinked a few times, adjusted her eyes, and then confirmed.
âYes, itâs out now⦠Thank you.â
