Chapter 399
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 399:
âRedmarsh.â
He remembered this place.
A quiet hum left his lips as he tapped the steering wheel, and then, without hesitation, he turned the car around and headed toward Poseidonâs Realm.
The private room was lively tonightâfilled with the low murmur of conversation, the clinking of glasses, and the occasional burst of laughter.
Barrie, the mastermind behind the gathering, spotted Ericâs arrival and made his way over.
âYou actually showed up? Thought youâd bail.â
Eric merely leaned back against the plush sofa, unconcerned.
âMm.â
âOh!â Barrie raised a brow, then smirked knowingly. âWell, someoneâs in a good mood tonight.â
He nudged Eric with his elbow, his tone teasing.
âCome on, tell meâdoes this have anything to do with Hadley and Denver not working out?â
Eric nearly choked on his drink, eyes narrowing as he shot Barrie a sharp glare.
âWhat kind of nonsense are you spouting?â
Barrie only grinned.
âDeny it all you want, but your face says otherwise.â
He couldâve pushed further, but he knew when to back off.
Instead, Barrie shrugged, casually adding,
âListen, if you actually have feelings for her, this is your chance. Donât overthink it. Just go for it.â
With that, Barrie stood and wandered off, leaving Eric alone in his seat.
Could this really be his chance?
Maybe⦠just maybe, it wouldnât hurt to give it a try.
Dawn broke over the city.
Hadley ran a brush through her hair, lost in thought, when Elissa walked pastâonly to stop mid-step and double back.
âHadley?â
Hadley glanced up, puzzled.
âWhatâs up?â
Elissa didnât respond right away. Instead, she bent down and picked something up from beside the sink. With a slight frown, she held it out.
âThisâ¦â she murmured, turning the delicate pearl hair tie between her fingers.
âIs this yours?â
âYeah, it is,â Hadley said easily, but Elissaâs expression gave her pause.
âWhy?â
âItâs just thatâ¦â Elissa hesitated, her curiosity getting the better of her.
âHadley, donât take this the wrong wayâI donât mean anything by it. But⦠this doesnât really seem like something youâd buy for yourself.â
