Chapter 409
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 409:
âOkay,â Ernest responded, nodding slowly.
âThatâs what I wanted to hear.â Nyla expressed her relief.
âLinda has been loyal to you for years. Itâs unfair to disappoint her now.â
She signaled to the caretaker.
âPlease assist him to Lindaâs room.â
âRight away.â
At Lindaâs door, the caretaker positioned Ernest and knocked.
âMiss Harris, Mr. Flynn wishes to speak with you.â
There was no response for a long time.
After a pause, the caretaker turned the doorknob.
âMr. Flynn, it seems the door is unlocked.â
âOkay,â Ernest said with a nod, indicating the caretaker could go.
âIâll be right outside.â
With another nod, Ernest opened the door and wheeled himself into the room. The room was dimly lit, with the curtains closed. Ernest adjusted to the darkness as he wheeled closer to the bed.
Linda was turned away from him, lying still, seemingly unaware of his presence. Ernest tightened his grip on the wheelchair, his voice shaky as he said,
âIâm⦠so⦠sorry.â
Lindaâs eyes snapped open at his words, her gaze quivering, yet she didnât move.

From behind her, Ernest continued hesitantly,
âPlease⦠donât be⦠mad.â
Still without a response, Ernest attempted to stand, his hands clutching the wheelchair tightly.
âWhat are you doing?â
Feeling that something was off, Linda quickly turned and caught him just as he was about to lose his balance.
They found themselves in a close embrace.
âIâm⦠sorry,â he murmured near her ear.
Feeling overwhelmed, Lindaâs eyes welled up with tears.
âIf you regret it, why did it happen?â
Ernest replied, shaking his head.
âWhat are you trying to tell me?â
Surprised, Linda responded,
âYouâre saying itâs not as I suspected?â
âYes,â Ernest said with a slow nod.
âThenâ¦â
Hesitant, Linda almost voiced her next questionâthen who was the woman?
Recalling his previous dayâs distress, she held back.
She chose to move past it.
