Chapter 428
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 428:
Hadley froze.
A helicopter? Denver flew in on a helicopter just for her?
âSeriously!â Elissaâs eyes sparkled with excitement. âI mean, who does that? He literally pilots his own helicopter! Hadley, you sure know how to pick them!â
A weight settled in Hadleyâs chest.
Why hadnât Denver told her? Did he assume sheâd remember? Or was he keeping quiet to avoid making her feel obligated?
Either way, there was no ignoring it now.
Turning him down⦠just became far more complicated.
Hadley was back on her feet by the afternoon. She felt significantly better, prompting Elissa to handle her discharge documents.
âAre you sure you want to leave? Maybe they should keep you under observation a bit longer?â
âWeâre in an observation room,â Hadley replied with a laugh. âI think Iâve been observed enough. The doctor said I should just continue with some medication, and Iâll be fine.â
âOkay, Iâll finalize everything.â
âLetâs head out together. I hardly brought anything with me.â
âSounds good.â
Once they completed the discharge process, they treated themselves to a taxi ride back to the hotel.
During the ride, Elissa said, âMs. Nicolson considers this a work-related incident, so the studio will cover all the costs.â

âThatâs a relief.â
They smiled at each other as they got into the taxi. Despite the relentless rain outside, Elissa couldnât help but ponder. âThis whole thing was just odd. You didnât eat anything out of the ordinary, right?â Considering food poisoning was a common cause, and Hadleyâs issue had escalated to gastritis, it remained a puzzle.
Puzzled, Hadley asked, âDid you grab my phone by any chance?â
âGot it right here.â
Elissa retrieved the phone from her purse and handed it over. âAppreciate it.â
Accepting her phone, Hadley decided it was time to unblock Denver, as she promised. From now on, she resolved to handle things as they came and let destiny take its course. She was about to set the phone aside when it buzzed with a new message.
Denver had sent a text.
âAm I off your blacklist now, Hadley?â
A smile broke across her face. She wondered how many attempts he had made before this one finally got through.
She replied, âYou are, Mr. Moran.â
Denverâs reply came almost instantly.
âI canât tell you how glad that makes me!â
Following his text, a meme appeared, depicting a little character jumping joyously. Hadley could sense his excitement even through the digital exchange. Elissa glanced over curiously.
