Chapter 431
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 431:
With a sinister grin, Alita sneered, âHadley, youâre tougher than I thought. Not even food poisoning could finish you.â
Shocked by the hostility, Hadley couldnât believe what she was hearing. Were they not just competitors but enemies too?
âYouâre despicable!â Elissa, outraged, suddenly pieced things together. âDid you tamper with Hadleyâs drink last night?â
Startled by the accusation, Hadley realized it might be true.
Both she and Elissa glared at Alita.
âIs that true?â
With a dismissive sneer, Alita retorted, âAnd what if I did? You canât prove anything.â
As she dragged her suitcase, she deliberately bumped into Hadley. âGet out of my way!â
âYouâ¦â
Hadley nearly tripped, but Elissaâs quick reflexes prevented her from falling. As Alita strutted off with a smirk of triumph, Elissa, boiling with anger, almost ran after her. âYou canât just walk away like this!â
Hadley, holding her back, sighed. âIgnore her. Sheâs just being spiteful. Sheâs already lost her jobâthatâs her karma.â
Elissa, still fuming but calmed by Hadleyâs words, watched as Alita disappeared. âYou called it karma. Iâd say itâs almost like sheâs being punished in your place.â
Hadley expressed her confusion, asking, âHow did these photos get out? Theyâre not the kind that anyone can just obtain.â

âExactly,â Elissa added. âIt makes me think Alita might have upset someone important in the industry.â
The industry was already crowded with people but had few opportunities. There was simply no room for newcomers like Alita.
âLikely,â Hadley said with a nod, feeling her stomach rumble. âEnough about her. I could use something to eat.â
âSame here. Letâs grab something quickly.â
Two days later, with the typhoon behind them, performances picked up again. With Alita gone, Hadley found her days with the troupe far less complicated, focused solely on rehearsals and shows.
To her, the routine was as essential as breathing or eating.
Following their stint in Tidebourne, the troupe toured several other cities. One evening after the show, Hadley glanced at her phone, eagerly counting down the days until she returned to Blathe.
Her phone suddenly rangâit was Colleen.
âMommy!â As soon as the call connected, Colleen and Joyâs faces appeared together on the screen, with Colleen mimicking Joyâs cheerful greeting.
âYes, my darlings, youâre both doing so well,â Hadley responded with a laugh, filled with joy.
âItâs incredible.â Colleen noticed Hadleyâs growing happiness and smiled. âEver since you started this career, youâve been glowing, and even more beautiful!â
âAuntie Colleen,â Joy chimed in, âMommy has always been beautiful! The most beautiful!â
