Chapter 436
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 436:
âI wanted to write a message to my mom saying I miss her,â Joy explained, her expression hopeful.
âThatâs a wonderful idea,â Eric encouraged, gesturing toward the whiteboard. âGo ahead and write it.â
âOkay.â
Joy approached the whiteboard with the marker in hand but hesitated, stopping short.
Eric, curious, asked, âWhatâs stopping you?â
Tears welled up in Joyâs eyes as she said, âI⦠I canât write yet.â Overcome with emotion, she burst into tears before she could say more.
Taken aback and unsure how to respond, Eric quickly lifted Joy into his arms, trying to soothe her sobs.
âThere, there, itâs okay. Iâll help you write your message, okay?â
Joy, still sniffling, nodded in agreement.
Eric gently took Joyâs small hand, noticing the dimples on her knuckles, and led her toward the whiteboard.
âWhat message do you want to send to your mom?â
âTell her, âMom, Joy misses you,'â Joy replied softly.
âOkay, letâs write that,â Eric responded as he helped guide her hand. As he wrote, Eric paused and looked at her curiously. âIs âJoyâ your name?â
Joy, slightly confused by the question, blinked up at him and answered simply, âYes.â
Eric stood still, a sudden realization washing over him. âWhat a stupid question to ask, Eric! Of course, itâs her name! What else could it be?â he thought. He then silently acknowledged, âItâs a lovely name.â

At last, Joyâs frown turned into a smile as she admired their handwriting. âIs this word âmomâ?â
âYes, thatâs right,â Eric confirmed with a warm smile.
âAnd this one is âJoy,â isnât it?â
âThatâs correct, very clever!â Eric said, impressed. He gently ruffled her hair.
Joyâs grin stretched wide, nearly closing her eyes. âMom showed me these words; I know them now!â
âJoy!â
Just then, a nurse appeared at the doorway.
Joy stiffened slightly. âOh, my nurse is here. I need to go now.â
âAlright then.â
âBye-bye!â Joy called out cheerfully, stepping away, but then paused. With a burst of energy, she darted back to Eric, wrapped her arms around him, and planted a quick kiss on his cheek.
âTime for me to head out! Bye!â
With a twist and a giggle, the little girl dashed away.
By the entrance of the playroom, a nurse gently lifted Joy. âItâs quite late; bedtime now, isnât it?â
âUnderstood!â
