Chapter 44
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 44:
However, they discovered that the biker had a record of criminal activity and had been arrested previously.
One officer whispered, âHer story could very well be true.â
âWe have no concrete proof, and heâs denying everything. What are our options?â
âMaybe they should consider settling this privately.â
âSettle this privately?â The biker vehemently disagreed. âNo way! She split my head open! We canât just let this slide!â
âEnough!â the officer interrupted, raising his voice.
With a forceful slam on the table, the officer replied, âThen pursue legal action. Remember, it will just be word against word in court. You have a criminal record, and youâve been drinking. Think about whose story the judge will believe.â
Hesitation crept into the bikerâs voice as he processed the officerâs words. Eventually, he relented and responded, âAlright, alright, letâs settle this privately then.â
He turned to Hadley, demanding, âShe has to compensate!â
He held up five fingers, saying, âI want at least this much!â
âFive thousand?â The officer looked towards Hadley for her response.
âNo,â Hadley replied firmly, shaking her head. âNot five thousand, not even five cents. I wonât pay anything.â
âStubborn bitch!â The biker seethed with anger. âNot a cent? Well, prepare yourself for jail!â
âFine.â Hadley faced him directly, her resolve clear. âWeâll let the courts decide. I believe in justice!â
âYou sure donât back down easily, do you?â
âSit down, both of you!â the officer ordered.
âEnough!â he added, ending the confrontation.

At that moment, a junior officer approached and quietly informed the senior officers. âThat womanâs phone keeps ringing.â
âMust be her relatives,â the officer mused.
Upon their arrival at the station, both Hadley and the bikerâs phones were confiscated, cutting them off from external communication.
The officer looked toward the steadfast Hadley and instructed the junior officer, âNext time it rings, answer it. Tell her family to get here. They might help sort this out.â
âUnderstood.â
Meanwhile, at Silver Villas, Eric, frustrated and anxious, tried Hadleyâs number once more. This time, the call connected!
âHadley!â Eric exclaimed as soon as the call was answered. âWhere are you? Itâs so late. Why arenât you back yet?â
âHello, this is the police station. Hadley Pearson is involved in a serious incident. You must be a relative. Please come to the station immediately.â
âIâm on my way!â
Ending the call, Eric felt his patience wear thin. Once again, Hadley had found herself in trouble. Ever since she returned to Srixby, chaos seemed to follow her wherever she went.
Now, she was being held at a police station for assault?
