Chapter 445
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 445:
âQuickly, bring them over here!â
âOfficer!â
Handing Hadley off to someone else, she clung to the officer and pointed frantically toward the stage. âThereâs a bomb there! Someoneâs still in danger!â
âUnderstood, weâre on it! Fetch the bomb squad!â
âRight away!â
Meanwhile, back on the stage, the police were quick to respond.
âJust hold on a bit longer.â
Eric held his breath. He couldnât really relax until the bomb was disarmed. The bomb expert examined the scene and suggested, âIf it just needs to stay stable, couldnât we support it with two objects of equal height?â
Eric nodded, saying, âThat should work.â
He had attempted this method before.
Still, the task of maintaining balance while relocating the device from the theater was daunting. How could anyone ensure the bead wouldnât move during the transfer?
Suddenly, the beam began to emit a ticking sound!
âThis isnât good!â
Eric and the expert locked eyes, realizing the balance beam was linked to a more complex setupâthere was a timer involved!
The digital display on the beam now flashed with only five seconds remaining!

They were out of time!
âThrow it away!â
Ericâs heart raced. He quickly raised his arm and swung the balance beam out of the way.
âEveryone, out now!â
At his shout, everyone scrambled off the stage.
Three, two, one⦠boom!
The explosion sent Eric flying. He pushed himself forward with all his strength.
The blastâs echo woke Hadley in an ambulance speeding to the hospital. A nurse was at her side.
âAre you awake? How are you feeling?â
âIâm alright.â
Hadley rubbed her neck and peered out of the ambulance window, her eyes locking on the theater, now consumed by flames. She was safe, but the bomb that had been hanging over her had detonated.
The nurse, noticing her gaze, said, âThe police and fire services are handling the situation. Youâre doing better than some of your colleagues.â
Hadley nodded, then turned to the nurse. âCan you tell me how I was saved?â
The nurse hesitated, then replied, âIâm not sure. All I know is that the police brought you out to us.â
âOh, I see. Thank you.â
âClear the way, please!â
