Chapter 465
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 465:
âReally, Mommy? My love?â
Hadley, tears still in her eyes, tenderly wiped away Joyâs remaining tears.
She had initially left Joy in Blathe primarily for her surgery. With the donor now backing out and the surgery off the table, staying apart no longer made sense.
âYay!â
Joyâs mood changed instantly, her excitement palpable.
âIâm going home with Mom! Being with Mom is the best!â
For a child, their motherâs presence was their sanctuary, their home.
âMy little darling,â Hadley chuckled as she lifted Joy, teasing her gently. âYouâve cried enough. Letâs clean up and get you ready for bed.â
âOkay.â
Back in his room, Eric pondered, phone in hand, wondering whether to call Hadley or visit her at the hotel.
The phoneâs ring broke the silence in Ericâs room.
âEric?â It was Marshall on the line, his tone urgent. âAre you still in Blathe? I need your help with something. Denverâs been in an accident, and I canât make it there. Can you check on him?â
Confusion and concern washed over Eric. An accident? Denver?
His voice tightened with worry. âWhat exactly happened, Marshall?â
âItâs a car accident. Thatâs all I know,â Marshall responded, his voice strained. âAunt Wilma was too upset to give me any details over the phone. She sounded overwhelmed, unsure how to deal with everything.â

âUnderstood,â Eric replied, his decision firm. Helping a friend in need required no second thoughts.
âIâll take care of it. Iâm on my way now.â
âAppreciate it,â Marshall replied before ending the call.
Eric wasted no time and rushed to the hospitalâs emergency department.
Upon arrival, he found that Denver had already been moved to the surgery room. He watched as a doctor handed Wilma some documents.
âPlease sign the surgery consent formâ¦â
Eric approached quickly. âMrs. Moran.â
Wilma turned, her distress evident as she clutched Ericâs arm. âEric, thank God youâre here. Itâs Denverâ¦â
âDonât worry, Mrs. Moran. Iâm here now.â
âThank you, Eric.â
After signing the necessary forms, the medical team wheeled Denver into surgery. Eric watched as Wilma sat on a nearby bench, visibly shaken. His thoughts drifted to Hadley. Was it the right move to call her?
Denverâs accident was undoubtedly connected to their recent troubles. What if Denver didnât make it? Didnât Hadley deserve a chance to see him, possibly one last time? But was it the right decision?
Could their separation be maintained if Denver recovered?
After wrestling with his thoughts, Eric finally picked up his phone and called Hadley.
There was a brief delay before she answered. âHello?â
Hadley had actually wanted to ignore the call but was also worried Eric might persist.
