Chapter 467
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 467:
With Denver now out of immediate danger, Eric organized the necessary care. Later, he looked towards Hadley, who lingered at the doorway. âWould you like to see him?â
âYes,â Hadley responded with a simple nod, her resolve clear despite the long wait.
Wilma interjected sharply. âAbsolutely not!â She could not risk the delicate balance theyâd just achieved being disrupted by their meeting.
Wilma scrutinized Eric, and then her gaze shifted to Hadley with distaste, given the murky state of their relationship.
âMrs. Moran,â Hadley said, her tone even and resolute. âDonât worry. I wonât reveal what youâve done to me. I merely wish to bid Denver farewell. Surely you donât wish any further misfortune upon him.â
A ripple of discomfort swept over Wilmaâs face.
Eric, catching the gravity of her words, turned to her. âHadley, are you certain? Youâre here just to say goodbye?â
Hadley affirmed with a nod. âIf it concerns you, feel free to accompany me inside.â
Without waiting for a response, she gently pushed the door open and entered.
Wilma, caught off guard, hesitated but followed closely behind, with Eric trailing. Upon entering the ward, it was clear Denver was awake, yet frail, barely managing to whisper.
âDenver,â Hadley murmured as she approached his bedside, her eyes scanning his bandaged form. Her eyes began to brim with tears.
Upon noticing her presence, Denverâs eyes widened with emotion, and he struggled to speak. âHadleyâ¦â His voice was barely audible amidst the quiet of the room.
âIâm here,â Hadley whispered as she moved closer to his bedside, her gaze scanning his injuries.

A faint smile appeared on her face despite the somber mood. âHow did you end up like this, so reckless?â
Unable to respond, Denver stared at her, and she spoke again, her voice breaking slightly.
âDid you do this for me?â
She chuckled sadly, tears streaming down her face. âIâm not worth this trouble, you know? You saw everything yourself, didnât you?â
Denverâs expression changed, and he slowly shook his head in a pained motion.
âDenver,â she said softly, reaching out to tenderly grasp his hand.
Speaking felt like an immense effort, her voice thick with emotion. âYouâre truly a wonderful man. If my life were less complicated, Iâd be with you without a second thought, no matter what your family thought.â
A tear escaped Denverâs eyes, rolling down his cheek as he lay motionless.
âHadley⦠Hadleyâ¦â
âDenver, please donât blame yourself. Itâs not you; itâs me. Iâm the one who failed you.â
Hadleyâs gaze dropped, her tears dripping onto his hand.
âGet better, Denver. Live a good life. Remember what I said when we first met? You deserve someone truly remarkable.â
Her voice trembled with emotion, but each word was pronounced with clarity. She gave Denver a radiant smile. âForget about me, Denver⦠Let me go completely.â
Slowly, she pulled her hand away from his.
âHa⦠Hadleyâ¦â
Denverâs whisper was raspy and desperate.
He strained to maintain his grip on her, but their hands slipped apart.
