Chapter 478
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 478:
âLinda!â
Upon realizing the direction her words were heading, Ericâs face drained of color. A cold sweat broke out across his forehead as he quickly cut her off, his hand instinctively reaching behind her.
âHadley!â
Linda feigned surprise, forcing a smile that didnât quite reach her eyes. âHadley, I didnât see you there. You leaving already?â
Hadley didnât respond, walking straight for the door without a word.
âAre you coming with me or not? If not, Iâll just call a ride.â
She pulled out her phone, fingers tapping swiftly as she tried to find herself an Uber. Her tone was clearly directed at Eric.
âComing!â
Eric rushed after her, catching her arm. âNo need for a car. Iâll drive you.â
He could only guess sheâd overheard Lindaâs words again.
Eric rubbed his brow, frustration creeping in. âI honestly donât know why she said thatâ¦â
âWho?â
Hadleyâs frown deepened, her irritation clear.
âIs that about your sister-in-law? If it is, donât bother. Her name alone irritates me.â
With that, Hadley shook him off and started toward the door.
âDonât!â Eric quickly grabbed her arm. âI wonât bring her up again!â
He knew theyâd never gotten along, but he hadnât realized just how much Hadley disliked her.

Fearing she might leave, he held on tighter. âCome with me to the garage. Weâll leave from there.â
Hadley didnât answer, but she allowed him to pull her toward the garage and into the car.
She remained silent the entire way out of Flynn Mansion, her face locked in a stern expression.
As the car approached the dance studio, Hadley suddenly broke the silence. âPull over up ahead. We need to talk.â
âAlright.â
Eric flicked his gaze toward her, sensing the weight in her voice. Without hesitation, he nodded and steered the car to a gentle stop by the roadside. Shifting slightly in his seat, he studied her with cautious curiosity.
âWhatâs on your mind?â
Was she having second thoughts?
A flicker of doubt crossed Hadleyâs face before she finally spoke. âYou told your grandmother about us way too soon. That wasnât the right call.â
Ericâs jaw tightened, his confidence faltering for a moment.
âWhy not?â His voice was steady, but a hint of defensiveness crept in. âWeâve already made our choice, havenât we? Itâs only natural that our families would find out eventually.â
Hadley met his gaze, her expression firm. âThatâs not necessarily how it works.â Hadleyâs lips curled into a faint smile, laced with a hint of mockery. âIf youâd kept quiet, we mightâve broken up without her ever knowing.â
Broken up?
Ericâs stomach twisted. This was getting out of hand.
