Chapter 481
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 481:
âOhhhâ¦â
Another round of laughter followed, teasing remarks flying, but Eric didnât seem to mind.
âYouâre all too damn loud!â
Eric laughed, shaking his head as he swatted away his friendsâ teasing remarks. Ignoring their whistles and knowing smirks, he took Hadleyâs hand and led her into the yachtâs cabin.
âWeâll stay here tonight,â he said casually, glancing at her. âIn the morning, weâll watch the sunrise over the sea.â
Huh? Hadley blinked, caught off guard.
That⦠sounded dangerously romantic.
Waitâwas this something they were supposed to be doing?
For a normal couple, sure, this plan would make perfect sense. But they were anything but. She had no illusions about what this wasâno promises, no expectations.
âWhatâs wrong?â Noticing her hesitation, Eric frowned slightly. âYou donât like it?â
He had taken this first dateâif it could even be called thatâseriously. He had chosen this moment carefully, bringing her here to share something special: the sunrise spilling over the endless sea.
Hadley snapped out of her thoughts, shaking her head. âNo, itâs not that.â She reassessed the situation. Maybe this was just part of keeping up appearancesâbringing her around his friends, making their relationship seem real enough to avoid suspicion from Ernest and Linda.
Fine. Sheâd play along. âA sunrise at sea sounds interesting,â she said at last, her tone light. âIâve never seen one before.â

Ericâs posture relaxed, a small smile playing at his lips. âI think youâll like it.â
Hadley glanced around the room, then back at him. Arching a brow, she asked, âAre we sharing this room?â
Eric hesitated, his gaze intensifying as he leaned in, gently grasping Hadleyâs hand.
Circumventing a straightforward answer, he asked, âConsidering that weâve decided to be together, sharing a room should be quite ordinary, right? Do you have reservations?â
Hadley paused, then shook her head. âNo, I donât.â
As Eric spoke, his lips hovered near her cheek. âMay I kiss you now?â
Caught off guard, Hadley managed a tense smile. âYes, you may.â She then shut her eyes and slightly lifted her chin. Resigned to the moment, she chose to meet it boldly.
âHadleyâ¦â
In a whisper, Eric raised his hand to her chin, his touch grazing her lips. The touch was new and unsettling to Hadley, causing discomfort she couldnât express, her hands tightening into fists.
Eric, his throat tightening with emotion, finally acted on his feelings and pressed his lips to hers.
The tension mounted, becoming unbearable for her.
Suddenly, Hadleyâs body tensed up, shaking uncontrollably. Her eyes snapped open, locking onto the man before her.
Without thinking, her hand shot up to his shoulder, instinctively trying to push him back. Yet she quickly caught herself⦠No, that wasnât an option!
âHadley?â
Eric picked up on her distress instantly, noting how rigid she was in his embrace.
