Chapter 514
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 514:
Ericâs body stiffened. His fingers curled at his sides. How could that be?
The man huffed, folding his arms. âTenant moved out weeks ago. Place has been empty ever since.â
The neighbor shot him a smirk, sizing him up. âGuess you two werenât as close as you thought, huh?â Thenâslam. The door shut in Ericâs face.
Eric stood motionless, the world tilting slightly beneath him. Hadley didnât live here anymore. She was gone. She didnât even mention it to him!
Ericâs vision dimmed for a moment, his frustration mounting.
Where could Hadley have gone?
Leaving the building, he wasted no timeâcalling property management, Phillips, anyone who could help.
By the time he made it back to Silver Villas, the surveillance footage had already been retrieved. His gaze locked onto the screen. There she wasâHadleyâhurrying out of his house, slipping into a taxi. But the footage only captured part of the license plate. Just a few digits. Not enough to trace.
âPhillips!â
âYes, Mr. Flynn.â He didnât need to askâhe already knew what Eric wanted. âIâll have someone look into it right away.â
It wasnât much, but it was a lead. They had the carâs color, model, and partial plate numberâthat gave them something to work with.
But that wasnât enough. They needed more. Hadley hadnât been back in Srixby long, and her circle was small. She didnât have many places to turn.
Ericâs mind raced. Her colleagues at the dance troupeâthere was oneâ¦

The person she had trusted before. Whatâs her name again? Right, Elissa! He vaguely remembered Hadley staying at Elissaâs place once to avoid Denver. And if memory served him right, that place was inâRedmarsh. Without another thought, he stepped on the gas and sped toward Redmarsh.
Unfortunately, Elissa wasnât home. At this hour, she was at the dance troupe, just like the rest of Hadleyâs colleaguesânone of whom had seen her.
Ericâs hands tightened into fists. Where else could she have gone?
She had no deep connections in Srixby. When she had come to the Flynn family, she had been all alone.
But thenâhis heart pounded.
There was still⦠Denver.
He didnât want to admit it, but Denver was probably the person Hadley trusted most in Srixby.
Would she have gone to him?
He didnât waste another second.
According to Marshall, Denver hadnât been staying at his usual residenceâhe had been at his villa in Lion Bay since his return. Eric arrived at the villa within minutes, his mood dark and stormy. The door swung open, revealing Denver, who looked genuinely surprised to see him.
âEric? What are you doing here?â
Eric didnât respond.
His gaze swept over Denver briefly before stepping past him without a word, moving through the house with purpose. He checked the living room, the hallways, the side rooms. Then, without hesitation, he made his way upstairs.
