Chapter 531
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 531:
âHurry up. This is a bus laneâwe canât exactly park here. Mr. Flynn is being nice. Do you want him to get a ticket?â
What kind of twisted logic was that? Yet for some reason, it worked. Muttering under her breath, Elissa climbed into the car.
As the vehicle pulled away, unease crept over her. Ernest sat beside her, silent and unreadable. Not a word spoken, yet his presence filled the space.
Elissa swallowed. Her fingers brushed her dry throat while a thin sheen of sweat formed on her back. What was she supposed to say?
âWhere to?â Ernestâs voice cut through the tension, his gaze shifting toward her.
âUmmâ¦â Elissa jolted. âR-Redmarsh.â
Ernest gave a curt nod. âDid you hear that?â he asked Quentin.
âLoud and clear, Mr. Flynn.â
âGood.â
And just like that, silence fell again. Elissa sat rigidly, spine straight as a board, feeling like a schoolgirl under watchful eyes.
Finally, they arrived and the car slowed to a stop.
âThis is meâthank you for the ride!â she blurted, hastily pushing the door open. Before anyone could respond, she darted into the complex.
Ernestâs eyes followed her retreating figure. Then his gaze flickered over the surroundings. So⦠this was where she lived. In a place like this? He took in the run-down buildings and aging infrastructure before looking away. âLetâs go.â
Back at Silver Villas, Eric didnât hesitate. Bending down, he scooped Hadley into his arms and carried her straight from the garage into the master bedroom. Carefully, he laid her on the bed.

âYouâre running a fever.â
Eric pressed his palm gently to her forehead on the way back. It was still burning hot.
âIâll get the doctorââ
âNo!â Hadleyâs weak fingers grasped his wrist, faint but firm. âPlease, I donât want to take any medicine.â
âHadley, please donât fight me on this.â Ericâs voice was low and coaxing. âLet the doctor check you out. If itâs nothing serious, you might not even need medicine. But if it is⦠I just canât take that chance.â
Without waiting for another protest, he dialed his private physician and then called the housekeeper. Hadley needed rest, warmth, and proper nutrition, and Eric would make sure she got all of it.
It wasnât long before the doctor arrived. After a thorough check-up, he offered his assessment.
âItâs just a mild fever brought on by the cold. The cut isnât deepâno stitches needed. Iâve cleaned and bandaged it, but sheâll need to keep it dry.â
He hesitated, glancing toward Eric with an uneasy expression. âMr. Flynn⦠sheâs a woman, after all. Physically, sheâs not as strong as a man. In terms of⦠physical intimacy, you might want to take it easy.â
Cold sweat broke out across Ericâs back at the doctorâs careful warning. It mustered all his courage to hear it spoken aloudâbut withholding the advice would have gone against the doctorâs conscience.
Clearing his throat, the doctor reached into his medical kit and pulled out a tube of ointment. With a neutral expression, he extended it to Eric.
âMr. Flynn⦠you should apply this for her.â
