Chapter 551
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 551:
Lindaâs patience snapped. âEnough with the act, Hadley.â
Her hands clenched into fists as she stared Hadley down. âEric and I grew up togetherâweâre closer than just ordinary friends! Maybe you donât understand that kind of bond, but at the very least, have the decency not to insult it!â
âYou really are something elseâ¦â
Hadley exhaled, shaking her head with a half-smile, her expression a mix of amusement and exasperation.
âDidnât I just step aside to give you two some space? And now youâre accusing me of insulting him⦠so tell me, Lindaâwhat exactly do you want?â
âHadley, thatâs enough!â
Ericâs voice finally cut through the tension.
His grip tightened around Hadleyâs wrist, his expression darkeningânot quite angry, but strained, as if trying to keep his patience in check.
âGo upstairs and wait for me.â
Hadley arched an eyebrow. âAre you sure you want me to stay?â
âHadley!â This time, Ericâs voice held a sharper edge, his tone leaving no room for argument.
She sighed dramatically, throwing up her hands. âFine, fine.â With an indifferent shrug, she stepped back. âIâll be upstairs then.â
She was just about to turn whenâ
The doorbell rang again.
Lindaâs entire body tensed, her fingers clamping onto Ericâs arm like a vice. Panic flashed in her eyes. âEric! Donât open the door! Donât let him inâI donât want to see him!â

Was Linda talking about Ernest?
A puzzled look crossed Ericâs face.
His memories of Ernest and Linda painted a picture of harmony; they rarely disagreed.
Ernest, in particular, had always been accommodating ever since they started dating, always putting Lindaâs wishes first.
But what had changed lately?
Ever since Ernest woke up from his coma, tension seemed to have grown between them.
Yet, Eric couldnât just ignore Ernestâs situation. âLinda, perhaps itâs best to discuss everything openly with Ernest.â He reached for the door.
Soon after, Ernest entered, his hair and shoulders lightly covered in snow.
âLinda,â he said as he maneuvered his wheelchair closer. âLetâs not trouble Eric and Hadley any further. Itâs getting late; they need their rest. Letâs go home.â
âI will not go anywhere with you!â Lindaâs refusal was adamant, as Eric had anticipated.
Lindaâs eyes were red as she sneered. âWhatâs the rush to take me away? Scared Iâll spill your secrets?â Her gaze deliberately shifted to Hadley.
Confused, Hadley wondered why Linda was involving her in this spat.
This was between Linda and Ernest, wasnât it?
Linda continued, âScared theyâll learn their respected brother is nothing but a cheat and a scoundrel?â
Shocked, Hadley could hardly believe what she was hearing. She glanced at Eric, who appeared unfazed by the accusation. Did he already know?
âLinda,â Ernest said, his expression tight with frustration yet marked by a refined handsomeness.
